We used to go here in the mid 80’s when I was a kid. We always stayed at Tunnel Trail Campground. The tunnels scared me so much!!

So glad you enjoyed it. And, yea, that campground looked nice. I stayed in Elroy so I had access to all 3 rail to trails that originate there.

I just did this trail. I did Sparta to Elroy and then turned around and went back. Let me tell you the Down hill section from tunnel 3 to Sparta was well welcomed. I was flying on it.

Good on ya! Yea the uphills aren't steep, they just go on forever. The walk through the tunnels and the downhills are welcome breaks for sure.

@@RoaminLama every tunnel on the way back was a well earned break for my knees, wrists neck. you get done walking through the tunnel jump back on and it feels good

Thank you! My wife drove up from our campsite in Elroy and brought me back. As much as my ego wanted to do both ways, I couldn’t leave Mrs. The Lama at the campsite for the entire day. 😄
