The Elroy-Sparta Trail - Overview

This 34 Mile trail between Elroy and Sparta Wisconsin is a Rail to Trail featuring 3, hundred year old tunnels with a combined length of one and a quarter miles. When not walking my bike through a tunnel, I was treated with some beautiful farmland, woodlands, limestone bluffs and rural towns.

We used to go here in the mid 80’s when I was a kid. We always stayed at Tunnel Trail Campground. The tunnels scared me so much!!

So glad you enjoyed it. And, yea, that campground looked nice. I stayed in Elroy so I had access to all 3 rail to trails that originate there.

Thank you! My wife drove up from our campsite in Elroy and brought me back. As much as my ego wanted to do both ways, I couldn’t leave Mrs. The Lama at the campsite for the entire day. 😄
