Been waiting on this one. I think it’s hilarious that Illinois isn’t ranked. Dangerous team..

They are, in fact… pretty dang good again this year. Becoming a common theme in Champaign it seems like.

I love ILL & big 10… these guys are authentic… I love that. If they think ILL stinks, they’ll say it. I just love listening to em… the humor and the perspective!

Kylan is learning new system and taking what's there. His on the ball defense has been on point. No concerns with his play right now.

Greg didn't admit his Wolverines blew one against Wake Forrest yet, but he and Cart did acknowledge how good Illinois looks so far. Greg and Cart also wisely pointed out that the Illini can't always count on great 3-pt shooting (even with Ben Humrichous getting lots of mins and his beautiful-looking 3-pt shot). The Ole Miss exhibition game showed that Illinois 3-pt shooting percentage (and TOs) can take a hit on the road against teams with aggressive perimeter defenders. The Oakland game is our last chance to work on 2-pt shots as a fallback, for when the 3s aren't dropping. Part of that, like back cuts, are important to keep defenders honest and give or best 3-pt shooter more room to shoot. But Illinois also can't afford to miss opportunities for high percentage 2s (like layups and dunks) and getting our good-to-great FT shooters to the line. Also, good point that Kylan Boswell needs a good stat game against Oakland to get his confidence for that Alabama game that comes next. Two fine points for KB: (1) I don't like pauses, even to gather oneself, as he gets deep in the lane on dribble drives. This is especially true for a 6'2" guard, where its already hard for him to get shots off down there in traffic. (2) KB needs to keep the ball on his fingertips while shooting FTs and other shots. I'm no fan of guys shooting with their palms touching the ball near the release. KB's shooting technique could be reducing his backspin and adversely affecting his touch, which relates directly to the distance accuracy of his shots. In this game, KB went 1-5 from the field and 0-2 from the line.

A very talented team. Chemistry looks like a 7 out of 10. I would like for Tre White to be a better teammate. That type of attitude could bring the team down from the inside. On the other hand, a great team needs that fire. They'll get better. Can't wait.

They have so many shooters they can't all be that cold on the same night. They have 6 or 7 shooters with higher 3pt. shooting percentage than Coleman. Tomislav can sink that hook shot all night just like Domask and Booty Ball @ Wisconsin last year. Riley has a great midrange game...should just get better every game the more they play together. 7 minutes into the 2nd half, they were only leading a badly outmanned out-heighted SIU-E team by only 13 points. In spite of their huge size advantage, they barely out-rebounded SIU-E. SIU-E shot awful and they hung in there a long time. There were certainly a lot of good things...Ivisic looked very good at times. But against Big 10 competition, this isn't good enough. I was not impressed. You can win with 3-pointers, but you can also look really bad dying by the 3-pointer. My prediction is that they'll make the tournament, but not by much. Maybe a 12 to 14 loss team, unless they improve. Now, I will say, the upside is pretty good for this team because they simply haven't played together that long. But I'm honestly not counting on it.

If Kylan gets his head right he’s got a great opportunity to be the leader and glue guy for this team. He’s too old and too talented to get down. If Kylan can figure it out and be a leader, holy shit this team gets dangerous.

Would love to see him take the Trent Frazier approach. No matter how Trent was shooting the ball he was hard to keep off the floor because of his energy and he was always a great teammate.
