I just bought my first BMW. 2009 K1200LT. The previous owner told me the fuel gage would stick at half full...I just removed the canister and rerouted the lines, took out the fuel float tube and straightened the dent out of it. Took me a couple of hours and solved the problem thanks to these videos. You guys rock. Headed to your webpage to donate now.

Kirk, after watching a few of your videos, I decided to go with a 2000 Goldwing 1500. I did not want to have to get "into" all the stuff that you showed so the Goldwing went into my garage. About 6 months later, the T-stat cover broke where it goes into the crazy very unique Honda hose. Guess what... No response needed.. I had to take off all the plastic and the air cleaner to get to the rear bolt of the T-stat cover and all the associated hoses. Without a long handle 45 degree pair of needle nose pliers, the job would have taken more than 8 hours!!! The OEM clips holding the hoses are hard as heck to get to especially since I worked on the bike on the floor and I am over 60!!! Yep, not as tolerant of knee pain as I was when I was 20!! Now? I wish I had bought the K1200LT. In fact, I will find a 2005 or newer model and buy it (want that electric center stand), if I can find a deal out there. All mechanical things break so worrying about something mechanical breaking is like worrying if I will eventually die... "It is going to happen, so enjoy what you have and ride what makes you get up in the morning." Take care brother and thanks for your time out of your life you have spent for all of us!

I think you will really enjoy the LT! It has its quirks just like every other bike but it is a pleasure to ride! Thanks for the comments! You can always bring it to me if you need it worked on. Kirk

These how to take apart videos are great and more than extremely helpful. I'd love to see a video on putting it back together and the trials and tribulations that can happen during that process. I just went through a repair inside the fuel tank. When I started putting things together it didn't go back together as easy as I had hoped. Very difficult to get the tank lined up and bolt through the side. I was a frustrated guy for a while. I guess I learned things do not always line up perfectly.

I love my Kbike ,HOWEVER the Maintenance is a special kind of madness. If you look back through history the original concept was to have the bike be super easy to work on. It is however also a very beautiful machine absolute state of the art motorcycle Kirk thank you so much for your videos they give many of us the confidence to do it ourselves and save thousands and thousands of dollars God bless you man

Excellent.. I have a k1200s but a friend with an LT wants to attack the air filters.. really good presentation.. I too have a M12 driver,, and a big bucket for the screws.. afterall the person before probably mixed em up.. so following the sizes coming out.. pointless.. .. now where is that vid on getting gas tank off and the air filters ( 10 min change on mine .. but the valves and plugs.. truly hellish) thanks

Kirk, Love your informative videos, they people like me who are new to BMW. I just bought a 2005 K1200LT and I wish to remove some of the added accessories to the handlebars, but I do not know how to remove that "Tupperware" so I do not damage any of the wires. Maybe you will make a video showing how to add/remove accessories to the handlebars. Keep up the good work. Al

Hello Bear, I have the locations memorized and if by chance one gets somewhere it does not belong, I have spares. The locations are really not that critical as long as the screw reaches to the bottom of the clip or well nut.

Great video. A quick question I need to remove that rear panel next to the rear brake reservoir can you advise how to do that. Does the front fairing need to come off as well to get to it?

Kirk, great vid's. Awesome resource especially for the new guy. I've recently purchased a 08 k1200GT and i'll be doing my own maintenance. Last bike was a 01 Hayabusa that I had put on 102k miles. I was wondering is there a way to separate the side bag cover (painted) from the internal bag portion?

Could never love a bike with that much Tupperware cause I like doing my maintenance but that’s to much of an inconvenience. That why dealer charge so much. The average dealer bill is above 800. to 1300$s

Is there a video for removing what is necessary to remove to flush brakes?
@kirksmotorrad

not specifically for that. You really can just remove the rear panels with some time and patience.

@@kirksmotorradI don’t understand, Your videos for flushing brakes say to watch your videos on removing the plastic but then the only one you have removes the upper and lower left side panel only for a different procedure. In the brake flush video it appears the side panels have been removed. Very confusing.

Thanks Kirk, I have viewed most of your LT videos and found them to be extremely helpful. I made a donation to your club this morning in appreciation of your efforts on our behalf. Recently acquired a low mileage 99 LT, and have already made my own list of 5 number one upgrades planned. One video that raised another question was the tire comparison that also had a bent rim you had fixed. I was wondering if you have a source for the straightening process and you mentioned having the wheel refinished in the off-season. Do you have a source for that and is that a re-powder coating process. Many thanks - Bob
