@@MayaPatch oh my gosh I agree 100% the story with the Dream Visitor/Guardian is so… convoluted. It’s emotional whiplash. Utter turmoil. It is truly a testament to Larian’s work that the relationship is so intricate that it leaves you, the player, wondering what is real and what isn’t; to say nothing of poor Tav.

Despite the debate over the morality of this character and whether their feelings are real, what I like about this romance is that it really feels like a slowly but surely developing relationship. All the other relationships in the game happen a bit too quickly for my taste. And honestly... it's hard not to feel for this character lol. I think my game was bugged because I never received any of these stat checks during the scene, so thanks for this video!

I didint even realise the check was that hard since I played a Rogue/Cleric on my first playthrough with expertise in both insight and perception (oh and the sentinel shield by that point) Also the toga felt so random at that spot.

Yeah I believe it was a wisdom check when I looked.. And my wisdom is looow. It took awhile to pass it for me. The insight one was easier.

I read the toga as the Guardian trying to show a softer side of themself. Similar to outfit changes later. That, and they wore it in EA, before Larian changed the story to introduce them in a more protective role rather than starting with a seductive role. So Larian is just making use of the toga EA players are familiar with.

As wizard you should know this (lol lore injection) that this is a mental projection in the Astral Sea, and the Dream Lover here is wearing exactly what he chooses to imagine! This is no Casual Friday, it's a pretty much him saying I wanna get nekkid wit u, how you feel about that? Speaking to the paranoia, all throughout this game (yes even Act 1) you find documentation about what this guy has been doing in the physical world, and the moment when you figure it out and it all comes together is pretty awesome, and you got a taste of that when you googled Bellyne, altho I think Tav is a Baldurian native, so they'd recognize the name of one of the Dukes.

This scene made me fall 100% for the dream guardian: before I didn‘t think too much of him and I was just like „yeah, just be friendly to him“. But damn, that changed everything. I intentionally went in blind playing this game. So I didn't know what the role was for the guardian character, and assumed we'd be running around together. I also didn't know about the romance options. I new deeply regret making my Guardian with the intention that he's my Tavs brother....

Another aspect that makes this opportunity easily missed is that if you enter Moonrise Tower and have the initial encounter with Ketheric before a long rest, "Part 1" of that dialogue scene does not happen. You do not have wisdom and intelligence checks pop up at all. The guardian instead talks about the Absolute and Ketheric. Then, the same dialogue as "Part 2" plays out.

I managed to get this without knowing it was a thing on my first playthrough with a warlock Tav. When I got the resulting achievement (far later) only 0.1% of people had it. Even now it's only like 6%. If the way to it is hidden like this I'm now less surprised.

I got this too, and I was having an Astarion romance with my fem Wood Half-Elf character but I went in for the hug because I'm a touchy-feely type of guy. My builds are focused on solo play as a do-everything god character (with cheats) but having companions around only for dialogue. For my fem Wood Half-Elf, the guardian I created was the visage of her mother (in my headcanon), the Forest Goddess Mielikki. The guardian and my character look very similar with the same hair style and it looked like a very wholesome family moment.

Now that I'm playing as Astarion origin, I decided to make the dream visitor look like my original Tav. I love the head canon that this is multiverse illithyd Tav reaching across space and time to help out. Although it's awkward to think of the dream visitor seducing the whole party simultaneously. I'll just presume it's only the party leader who gets the toga.

I have super high insight but apparently no perception and I've never seen this hug portion. 😢 I even saved right before it and tried to hit the roll several times I'm not sure why it's so hard to see this scene

I wonder why this scene changes. It wasn't this way for me on two of my 3 playthroughs. For instance, it begins the same way with him saying he doesn't know how long he can resist it, but he does NOT say the part after "it's good to see you making progress." He just goes straight into the whole discussion about being psychically bombarded. So the whole insight check for the hug does not happen at all. The first playthrough I killed the goblin leaders and saved the grove, it didn't trigger. The second on my Dark Urge where I slaughtered the grove it DID trigger this scene only he asks if I regret what happened at the grove instead. Leads to the insight check and the hug. My current playthrough, I stole the idol of sylvanus and killed the druids, but saved the tieflings and killed the goblin leaders. Again, this scene is not triggering. Not sure what causes the "it's good to see you making progress" dialogue that leads to the hug.

I tested this. It depends on when you long rest in Act 2. If you Long Rest before reaching Moonrise Tower, you’ll get the potential hug cutscene. If you Long Rest after you already arrived at Moonrise, you will get a different dialogue about Kethric instead of the Grove with no perception checks. Hope this helps.

This whole romance is really sexy but its got me paranoid as hell. I don't want to be in the middle of foreplay and suddenly get my brains munched on. Tell me something. If your dream lover came to you tonight and it could be anything you want no game limitations. What form would it take? This is an open question to everyone. Personally I think mine would be a buxom futanari who lactates mountain dew and if that ever comes to be in a dream I am lost guys. The Illithids got me. XD

I screwed up. It thought the Underdark and the Mountain pass was and either or situation. Like we could only pick one. I went with the devil I knew and once I got done with the Underdark I moved onto the Shadow Cursed lands. Only after exploring it a bit and got Lae’zel's scence challeging my judgement and leadership in the Shar place did I get the dream. I gave him a hug but there was no dialouge about him being in the artifact. I was left with no idea were he was hiding out. Later on I noticed I could still check out the Mountain pass so I went there to find out more answers and of course loot. After everything that happened there I thought I would get another dream as we had learned so much. I also dreaded a possible scolding given from the guardian for the risks I took with the artifact. Didn't get nothing more and next thing I know on the way to Baldur’s Gate he and the artifact are under attack and we meet who the guardian really is. I'll have to do it right next time.

I chose everything you did in the first 3 dreams, and yet I never got a perception check to hug them. My 4th dream triggered in the middle of Act 2 at Last Light Inn, before I was to infiltrate Moonrise Towers. Is it because I did not trigger this scene early that I did not get the perception checks? No guides make mention of this.

Interestingly if you’ve been hostile to this point, passing the perception check nets this convo but there is never an insight check fail/pass hint. Low key makes me believe even the hug was staged 👀

So I went with goblins this playthrough and he don’t comment anything, no perception checks, going straight to “order to transform you was sent many times”. I don’t know if it’s bugged or I’m just getting punished for slaying grove. Feels a bit meh

I saved the grove too, so that shouldn't be the case. Check out my past dream lover videos and see if your choices with him line up. I was always very supportive of him and that might matter. I also used my powers a lot
