When Gon woke up the hunter exams were already over, and Satotz explained what happened! Grittaracku revealed himself as Illumi, Killua's brother! Illumi had Killua shook up bad, and eventually switched him back to his old assassin self, and killed Bodoro, making Killua the only person to lose the fifth and final phase of the hunter exams. I WANTED KILLUA TO BE WITH THE BOIS! :(

There's also some arm wrestling in York New, among some other things that the anime took out for no reason other than to make Leorio seem goofier than he really is. It's a shame really.

Im actually glad you guys didnt just assume illumi was telling the truth and that killua for some reason really was "just an assassin with no emotions" or whatever like a LOT of people like to believe, killua is one of my favorite characters of all time As someone who has passed for similar experiences since i was a child it really makes me glad for something like that to be told in such a way: a realistic portrayal of familial abuse not being taken lightly and, even better, portraying it as it should: the abuser is viewed as the real bad person and extremely manipulative in the situation and you can see how bad the "vibes" they give are

(After you guys get through the anime to avoid spoilers) I IMPORE you to watch some clips from the 1999 version, especially fight scenes. Not only are they animated differently (not necessarily inferior and even better in some cases, IMO), but they also reveal different things about the plot, for example with Hisoka and Kurapika's fight, they actually fought a lot more intensly back then!
