ILOILO'S FIRST
Perhaps, no other province in the Philippines can claim to achieve a record of having many “firsts” as the province of Iloilo. This list, which is by no means complete, includes some of the vignettes of history that make for the grandeur and glory that is Iloilo. By making this compilation, I hope to bring you an exquisite splendor as we relive the glorious past through the great events and great achievements of notable men and women and thus though briefly, comes before the chamber for an eventful encounter with history.

IloIlo Mission Hospital, is the first Hospital established by the Americans. And CPU College of Nursing is the first nursing school in the Philippines. 1906. MY ALMA MATER 💙💛

The First Hijas de Jesus School in the Philippines is in Pototan, Iloilo. The Hijas de Jesus sisters from Spain came in Iloilo in 1932 .

Iloilo is the historical and original, Cebu is the recent and popular. Both cities are considered Queen Cities of the South, but technically Iloilo is the Queen City of the South.

ILOILO IS THE ONLY CITY IN THE PHILIPPINES THAT CAN EVER HOLD THAT TITLE. THE TITLE IS GIVEN BY THE QUEEN REGENT OF SPAIN. NO OTHER CITY CAN CLAIM THAT TITLE IN THE PHILIPPINES SOUTH OF MANILA.

iloilo is the queen’s city of the south. there’s a difference. cebu’s moniker is self-proclaimed. iloilo’s moniker has been given by queen maria cristina herself.

Miagao, la más antigua iglesia CATOLICA en Visayas Occidental, etc. It is amazing that the brighest Iloilo times came with Spain and illongos are not able of speak two sentences in spanish.... In my understanding, during the Spanish times, only the rich Filipinos or ilustrados can afford to go to school. There was no public school during the Spanish times, and so the poor are generally illiterate and only the educated rich can speak Spanish. During the American times (Philippine Commonwealth), the Americans built public schools to educate not only the rich but also the poor and making English as the medium of instruction. That is why, many Filipinos can speak English during those times until now.

You need to do a piece on how the Ilongos a Visayan people established themselves here in the island of Panay. 1st HINT: The Visayan of Panay was an empire of seaferring people based on the island of Sumatra. 2nd HINT: They came from a place called Panai, and landed on Panay. 3rd HINT: Why did General Miguel Lopez move his HQ from Cebu to Panay.
