issue... what if the computer you are transfering licenses from is completely DEAD? no way to deactivate on the old defunct machine.. how do you tranfer then? this is a critical question.

I have a similar problem where my Windows boot file became corrupt and could only solve it by formatting my boot drive and reinstalling Windows. I'm still on the _same_ computer, but it won't let me deactivate... So this video is bullcrap... I'm not on a _different_ computer.

You can get them to reset your activations. Just email them, they did it for me years ago when I had a computer die on me.

Why I think iLok is S**t: A while back I had to re-install my OS, because an update corrupted my machine. After re-installation, iLok manager allocated a different location ID to my machine and yet there were no hardware changes. I contacted iLok who said I should request a location ID reset from the software vendors. I done this at least 3 times already in the last few months without so much as a hello from them. iLok said they can do nothing about it, yet it is their servers that is allocating a different location ID. So now I have legally licensed software I cannot use. It basically means that any hardware changes/failures will lead to invalidating your software licenses. I have a number of licenses which do not use iLok and never had such bulls**t problems. My conclusion is that iLok is an unnecessary evil that does not benefit the little man like myself.

I had an issue with a computer bricking on me. I contacted them and AKAI and i got my activations reset. Contact both Akai/InMusic and Ilok.

I’m dealing with the same issue except I wiped my computer clean and reinstalled the Operating System and did not deactivate first and now it thinks I’m on a new computer. How do I deactivate the old one or transfer it to this one? Where is the $25 option?

@Rodrigo Sampaio Apparently you have to contact each vendor separately to ask them to RESET the license count for you. And this is exactly why iLok is shit.

thanks! moved from a new mac from an old and did migration assistant to get all my files, apps, and accounts to my new mac. thought everything including plugins was going to transfer smoothly but it has been a hassle not just though iLok but with other plugins as well like waves and izotope. With the others its just going through reinstalling those plugins but thanks to this vid I was able to get my iLok plugins back to my new Mac

What about hard drive failure?! Not being able to deactivate with cloud access to as the owner of my account is arbitrary in aim of raising the risk of added expense. This is SOLELY For the benefit of Pace (the company owning iLok) and the software developer. GREED!!!

what about the $25.00 license transfer fee ? Transferring and deactivating is much more complicated than it has to be. I sold my MPC touch and it was impossible to deactivate and transfer the license, required a 25.00 fee. Never buy ilok products

is there a way to do this with loosing the activation times? .. i mean i have some pluings that have only offer 2 activation counts and were very pricey now i am planing to change my hardware.. Will it affect the counts if i change my motherboard?

So what i did was i plugged my iLok into my old computer, dragged and dropped the plugin from the computer to the ilok in the manager. Plugged the iLok into my new computer and did the reverse. Its activated on my new computer but the plugin is just nowhere to be found in my files. Idk what to do

I don't believe that there is a much more stupid way of licensing software. I could understand having a USB app to key in to. Open your app on your computer then it requires the USB key to work. If your USB gets fried along the way make it easy to get it reset to a new USB device that it keys in to. It isn't complicated. I have spent several hundred Euros on software that has been unavalable for months because you have a dumbarsed system. When your old computer is fried or stolen you just don't have access to it anymore. ILOK needs an easier way to work. Right now any software that requires ILOK I refuse to buy.

ilok is very dangerous. you always have to think three times whether you haven't forgotten anything before you set up the old computer again or sell it or or. but if the computer or the dongle should break, you have big problems. with lennart digital sylent1 the solution is just as stupid. first deactivate and then reinstall or or. at least they still have the function that you can rewrite it 10 times before you have to buy new ones.
