Love her, this is was the PERFECT character for her. And Hot take, Alan’s choreography was weak for this dance. I found it fell flat in a lot of parts but Ilona felt her best and you can see that.

Agree. Also Rylee and Sasha had weak choreographies as well that did a disservice to their partners. Here there was enough that was charming but there were parts were Alan did not stress the character work enough, particularly at the beginning

I felt the same. I know ballroom is his specialty but he needs to put in work on his jazz and contemporary. I absolutely loved Ilona as Louisa though. She did everything that was asked of her and she looked phenomenal.

I’m gonna be honest I was slightly underwhelmed with that Jazz number BUT Ilona is such a joy to watch! They used her strength as an advantage which is great but I would’ve loved to see more movement from her cuz she can dance and she’s proved it! Showcase that… that same fiery & versatility they showed last week will go a long way in many dances not just the ones that require it… she’s had such a uphill battle I don’t want her to feel like she can only get to the edge but to truly last on top! She did great though! It’s an 8 from me 🔥

​@@medioreblatherskiteshe did more dancing in the group mumber and was fantastic there. Kind of wrong that she danced more in that than here but she did fantastically with the choreo she was given. And its worth remembering that her performing those lifts is so much more impressive than the guys lifting the girls sknce theyre generally lifting someone barely more than half their weight, or less sometimes. Whereas ilona is not just lifting someone her weight or more, but managing to dance through the lifts and big entries is so impressive. Her lift with jenna in the group dance really highlight just how much easier it is when you have a small woman to lift and was extremely well done. That one was a complex lift with a much more difficult entry particularly. Its a more difficult lift than weve seen from the contestant men lifting for the most part too. Which really does show how difficult the lifts with alan are. And its certsinly not just the weight that makes it difficult, but very much the physical size proportions. When lifts often involve using the shoulders as a bit of a platform or wrapping round and them being smaller dimensions when wrapping around etc which also becomes so much harder. Like trying to fit alan on the shoulder space is much tougher than most of the fellas fitting their very slight professional dancers. Even the professional fellas have pretty small women, but theyre also professionals and able to manage slightly more awkward size match ups with their experience. Everyone is obviously very impressed and loves it when ilona lifts and flips alan like she has a few times now. But i dont think they always realise that its not just ilona matching up to the mens strength in lifting, but having a much harder job than them in performing those same lifts as shes lifting a trim but actually pretty muscular and well built alan, instead of a tiny slim dancer like Jenna, Rylee and the rest of the professional women, which would be a breeze for ilona now! As weve seen with what she was able to do with jenna executing that difficult lift so expertly.

as a girl who has always been bigger, taller, and have broad shoulders, and would have a similar physique if i lifted, ilona is the first representation i've seen of someone who looks like me representing strength and power and beauty and femininity in a world that only correlates those things with thinness and taking up as little space as possible. the little girl in me is healing, and she is helping me embrace my strength. i have been battling an eating disorder for half my life, and i hope ilona knows how much this means to girls that look like us. i'm 24, and if i was a taller/bigger little girl watching this? i would be absolutely elated. she is doing so much good for young girls and women just by existing as herself and embracing her physique. thank you, ilona. this genuinely brings me to tears.

Illona is a fantastic Luisa, but Alan's mask creeped me out so much he should just wore the same outfit the background dancers did but with like a pink tutu like the dancers in Encanto live. I do get what the judges were saying about how Ilona can do even more dancing but I think this dance was more about her being strong and in character next week I hope Alan adds more steps so Ilona can really showcasing her dancing more cause she can do more than this.
