Hi Sam! I know exactly what you are talking about. I do lot of charity work in Vietnam. Support several families with essential need. Paid lot of surgerys. PLS remember, back in the days of the war in Vietnam (USA, South Vietnam dictatorship) WE, the millions of poeple living in socialist countries supported the poeple of Vietnam by sending, factory goods , machines, bicycles, hospitals, medicine..... Much of it funded by me and my poeple, of course with love.

@@SamsRussianAdventures The intention is good, but how realistic is it? The fact is that there were a lot of funds before the war. And for the poor, and for shelters for dogs and cats, and for saving architecture, for whatever you want. And now there are even more funds, there are fees for the military, for refugees, etc. And how viable will another fund be? It's hard to say.

Hi Sam, Yes, I've struggled with exactly what you are talking about. There is no complete way of escaping 'the self'. Sometimes the people who commit suicide are actually trying to escape the self, but are ironically doing the most selfish act one can do, and have no way of reversing or making up for it. The only person who could truly be selflessly sacrificial for us hung on a cross. It's interesting to hear about your formal charitable plans. I'm like you - I no longer give to the charities that have become juggernauts, as it's become a form of business where the CEOs are on 200k sterling a year! I also think so much of the money is wasted. When you sponsor a child, it's just a sticking plaster that doesn't stem the flow. I have thought about setting something up where the premise is to sponsor a family. Thus, hopefully reduce the issues that lead to orphans, etc.

Sam, do you know the Soviet era cartoon character, Kuzya? The setting with those little village style houses, surrounded by big apartment buildings, reminds me of the episode where the old house that Kuzya the domovoy lives in, gets knocked down to make way for one of those apartment buildings. He then goes to live in an adjacent apartment building. Anyway, that's my thought. Maybe you've seen it, and know what I'm talking about.

Giving is exchanging money for a good feeling. So why do you get the good feeling, because the person who gets it is happy, getting help or getting something nice that they wanted (were they selfish by wanting something they didn't really need in return?). Either way, giving is a win-win situation. They get help, you get satisfaction. But it's said that if you film it, then it's like bragging, giving you even more third party cheers, and fame. Idk.

Like i said in the last video, Sam is always putting others before himself. It really makes me smile so much when i watch these videos. As far as how Russia looks this time of year with no snow, it's seems to me what makes it look so bad is that there is mud everywhere. People just drive on the grass and destroy all the grassy areas which makes it look so run down. In all of his walk videos you see grass areas that should have grass but instead are all dirt due to vehicles driving in those areas. I hate that.

Charities always start out as good intentioned ideas, when they get a influx a money they gotta turn into a business cause you will have to hire people to help you. So then you gotta save up for years of very little to zero donations....it is something that i donated to in my 20s and 30s but now since i spent more time looking into them i 100% quit donating entirely.

The amount of money that actual orphans can get is insane since everyone wants to help a child without a family especially christians. Your concern about help only lasting a short time. There is a story from the medieval times of a bird during a snow storm flying in the one window of a barn and out another. The question was did it help the bird? Yes, it provided a moment of warmth and comfort to strengthen it to survive the storm.

You get that a lot in St Petersburg in the suburbs, brand new apartment blocks, old Soviet apartment blocks and right in the middle of it all these old houses in fenced off areas some slap dash put together over decades, some more ornate with wood carving on the window surrounds it's really strange all overlooked by these old and new tower blocks. I guess some are over 100 years old or more by the looks of them. What I found more interesting were the old places/grand houses owned by lower members of the royal family dating back to the time of Peter the great that sit on the banks of rivers that flow into the Neva obviously owned now by Oligarchs now, and these mega mansions that sprung up around lakes inside of public parks, the people of St Petersburg weren't happy about that, as their public access to sit by the lake in the summer was cut off. Obviously Oligarchs buying public land from corrupt local councils so they could build their mansions in the center of St Petersburg by a lake. The locals who used those parks were pissed.

I was thinking the same thing. Much rather live in one of those little houses than a big apartment building with neighbors above your head & below your feet. And I'll bet those garden plots provide a lot of good produce. (Did you notice the hoop house one person had? You can harvest fresh greens & carrots all winter, with some layers of mulch). Plus, the old-style woodwork around the windows is so artistic.

Its a "devils" way of manipulating the truth to convince good people not to do good deeds. Like twisted logic that its somehow a selfish act, with an explanation that starts with a presumption that you would do such thing only because it makes you feel good. Dont fall for it, the evil wants to spoil the good from the core, be happy when you help someone and dont choke that good feeling. Its a feeling embedded in our design, made to inspire us to continue doing good deeds, and it works like a charm, enjoy it to the fullest, embrace the emotion that was made for you. The good feeling that we get is a result of a good deed, its like another rule of our existence, do good, feel good, do bad, feel bad. The evil the opposite of good, so these people feel the opposite, and thats why they try to convince you in the twisted logic... It comes from a twisted soul. *Deceit* is their doctrine, the purpose of their existence is destruction. Consumption, domination, hedonism and self centeredness are their motivation for the choice of evil side, and nothing will stop them from eternally pursuing their goals. They are equally stubborn as good people, who give out last money to people just because they need it, they each represent the other side of duality.

Yeah, the evil also wants to convince you that when you film good deed, you do it just for the sake of own benefit, which is again something to ignore, its simply inspiring others to help other unfortunate people, but the evil wants this not done, because its crucial to have balance, some must suffer if they want the best feelings, so they try to lower the number of people helping videos by convincing you that you are something you are not, in this case, selfish. Just film as much as you can and it will reflect in the donations, the video is what touches people to donate, so do it without any traces of guilt, with a massive smile and a belly full of butterflies.
