I have been listening to you for a year now more or less, because you could be a friend of my family. You could be my younger brother, or my cousin… it doesn’t matter: you have become a friend that I like to watch live. It’s as if we had an everyday conversation and that makes me feel less alone… I have sons a little younger than you and they don’t have time to call me… they have nothing special to say and yet, they would talk to me about themselves, about the last meal they cooked or a movie they enjoyed… and no…. That’s why I follow you on KZbin, because you have become a member of my family… thank you merci du Québec!

Videos like yours have and are making impacts on people in the "West", disparaging some of the propaganda that has plagued people about Russia. I am one of those people here in America (Idaho) that have learned a great deal from YTer's living in Russia displaying ordinary life there that is much different than what our Gov't would have us believe. Stay safe and "keep on keepin' on". 👍✌

@@nickvictor577 there are two main categories of people. Hate Russia and love the west. Hate the west and love Russia. I love Russia but don’t hate where I’m from. Many Russian people are very protective and they only want me to show that everything in Russia is amazing! So if I dare to film on a normal street, then immediately I am considered propaganda. Many foreigners watch other channels which always show Russia as positive in every single way, so foreigners expect this to be true!

The problem is Devil runs the world. He is liar and murderer. This is the reason why deception and violence are everywhere. This is the reason why liars and murderers feel good while righteous persons are persecuted. This is the reason why Hitler got the power, but Christ was executed as "blasphemer" and "rioter" by denunciation of clergy. This is the reason why all people are spoiled and the whole world is Sodom. That's why we've got the Gospel about the God's Kingdom. Jehovah would put everything in order. He's anointed Jesus Christ. The dead will be resurected and we'll see our loved ones again! :-)

Hi Sam, today your house and street looks like a typical winter city scene. Every street and corner of the ground is covered with snow and the temperature looks quite cold. I saw you wearing a thick winter coat and hat, but you mentioned the problem of KZbin viewers. It is not easy to increase the shooting time and topic. I think most people are interested in very general topics. Things like food, culture, social activities, sports, shopping, hobbies, health and daily life. But I don't know what topics people are more interested in. Anyway, I wish more people would like and support your KZbin.

Hi Sam, You seem to think that most people lack enthusiasm of your videos. It does not reflect the content but the circumstances that are displayed. Remember that Russia is in the middle of winter. Different shades of gray which is not pleasant at the time, maybe some indoor activities or outside at night (bright colorful lights) ex. inside bars, night clubs, movie theaters. The heated swimming pool was a good addition which gave a different perspective of the communal life. Just my thought. Tyrone from Los Angeles.

When you went by the garages, it reminded me of a fascinating BBC documentary called Garage People. It’s about a community of Russian men and what they get up to in their garages. It might sound dull, but I found it really interesting and have watched it several times. As for mentioning how tough it is to get views, I get that it’s frustrating, but bringing it up in a video might give new viewers the wrong impression. They might assume low views mean the content isn’t worth watching and move on before giving it a chance.

I hope that this comes across as constructive, it's certainly offered in that way... The best content in KZbin is usually where someone documents their own adventures, we follow along as they indulge in something that they enjoy, something that's interesting, something that makes them happy... The drive to produce content can be secondary, your focus as a creator should ideally be on the subject matter (imo), doing something along these lines, that you would thorough enjoy even if you didn't have a camera with you. The problem with 'everyday life videos' is that they're everyday life.

Do you think it is just a Russian youtuber issue? Seems to me most youtubers of most nations or topics run into the same issue. Then they cater to the algorithm by making the same old stuff or resorting to clickbait titles. I try to do my part as a consumer by purposefully NOT clicking on obvious clickbait titles, or clicking away from the video as soon as I realize I’ve been bamboozled. I also aggressively click “do not recommend this channel” for channels that use clickbait or other deceptive strategies, or aren’t providing content that interests me. I’m sure it’s difficult to find a balance of making videos that you enjoy making and feeding the the algorithm to make a living. Good luck!

I belive it has a lot to do with the personality of the KZbinr. I watched Baklykov all the time livestreaming walking streets in different towns, nothing special happend but it was like I was walking there with him when he talked about the history of the town. Now he only goes around in his car and people pay him to play music. It became so boring, he became boring and I don't watch anymore. I love your channel because of your personality and you always stumble on something weird or scary or nice. Russells visits in different stores that looks almost alike but he is so good at it. I'm not sure I can put all of my thoughts on this in one comment, but I'll try. First - please, take this as a constructive criticism and not as hate or me not respecting your work. Because I love your channel and it's good for me. However, you should stop complaining that much. Why? Because, basically you're trying to play the victim card. And it's always a loser's perspective. Therefore, you should change a bit your mindset - to the perspective of a victor, not of a loser. Just ask yourself, if this is really interesting or useful to the audience - to listen long and long video of a 2 meters tall grown man, who does nothing else, than complaining. How is that good for the people or for you? You have a bit of a different perspective to the world, and that may naturally hinder your potential audience. So, you should ask yourself what path do you want to follow - one, that adheres strictly to what you like, the way you like it, but with probably limited audience. Or, if you are ready to listen to the people and make content for them - the one, that they'd like (I don't see anything wrong with that, honestly). If other youtubers are doing something and it gather success, maybe there are good and objective reasons for that. Approach the matter from such perspective and maybe you'll gain a lot of insight.

Would a fair comparison video between Sabbatical’s experience and Callum From Britannia’s returning to the UK from America recently? A lot of parallels in their treatment. If anything considering Callum hadn’t made any of the same mistakes, wasn’t filming things that could be used to provide intelligence for attacks and was a native, not a citizen of a nation actively engaged in supporting another with whom the place he was visiting was in an existential conflict, I like Tommy and don’t want to undermine what must have been a tough time, but as you say it’s not how it appears and his early videos show he had been influenced and let down by certain MSM narratives before he went. There would be mileage in comparing a walk around the streets of a similar sized UK town to yours. Watch Charlie Veitch and you’ll see what I mean. Might not be a good idea, if you are interested I’m happy to help with suggestions and might be able to offer some interesting info.

Thanks for the comment. I’m not aware about Callum and I’m sure it must have been an awful for Tommy. Obviously Tommys audience is not probably people who love Russia and so he made the type of content that they wanted to see. With Russia content now, it appears that only content which shows Russia in a good light is allowed! There is a lot of money being made by the new residency visa.

@@SamsRussianAdventures You can hear Callum’s story on his channel - Britannia, or in more depth on Jolly Heretic, both here on KZbin. They were both only released this week and is pretty hot topic on one side of the debate. Yeah a lot of Tommy’s audience won’t want to hear it. Some of the same sort might be shocked how when compared/contrasted with Callum’s. I guess it will depend if they’re interested in issues or not. A lot of people on one side of the debate aren’t happy and are fed up with being lied to here. They might ask a few more Theres a chance the algorithm might not be your friend, I don’t know about that. Trust me, a compare your city and similar UK won’t show Russia in a bad light. I’ve done hundreds of those videos. I’m almost the only foreigner who shows any interactions with Russian people in the videos. They are far work, they take lots of time to create, edit and translate, but a simple video about a Russian supermarket or about why Russia is better than America, will get a hundred times more views. That’s what I’m trying to say. Being creative and creating good content does not bring in results.

You justify its relevance or whatever from a view count. There is so many other factors, time of year cause in the winter people are inside and have alot more time in front of a screen, world events also affect views cause if russia wasnt in this war you would even be getting less views, youtubes finger in the scale...auto play is a huge feature and youtube shorts forces videos on people like chess i havent chosen a chess video once but my recommended and shorts is all chess. There is also probably 100 other factors....you cant go by view count...stay active and video things around your activity...go fishing....show a unique russian vehicle made for siberia....show a woodworkers setup and creations....you gotta talk to people and find unique things around you.

No, I don’t think we would get along because I had some issues with his content. I wish he didn’t keep telling people that is goal is to show real Russia outside of Moscow. He did an interview in a radio station in Prague. He said he was tired of foreign journalists who portray Russia as a place with alcoholics and bad infrastructure and his goal was to show the opposite! But isn’t that exactly what he shows? I’m fine with abandoned villages! But don’t pretend that you are just showing normal life outside the capital! And why always make friends with toothless alcoholics!

Remember sex sells... then again you clearly know that already. As a watcher of videos from around the world, it is about the topic and the personality of the person doing the video. I watch videos to learn about what life is like around the world but over time you learn what there is to learn then move on. If the person making the video has a great personality, I will watch their videos longer. Look at Russel from adventure with Russel. I have watched enough of his supermarket in Russia videos but he has a nice personality and once in a while shows something new. I watch yours because it shows a different aspect of Russia. I will likely be watching your videos for a little longer then stop... youtube is what it is. That said, it is easy to make an emotional investment in those who's videos you watch. It becomes like a soap opera, you have to tune in once in a while to see how they are doing. The more of what you say about your life without being a whiner, the more people will keep interested in your videos. Show more about your house, give us another update in how the work is going on it. You seem a nice of guy, just need to show what makes life interesting in Russia and in your life and people will tune in. BTW I have watched people building boats on youtube and when they needed a little help for this or that or someone had a spare this or that... people sent them money or the this or that to help them out. People being good hearted people.

It's not about being a youtuber in Russia. But more about the subject matter. I have found that when i post videos about my adventures in Russia and all the interesting things i do. I get several views. But when i make videos in England that do not have relevance to Russia, the views are not there. People are interested in what is happening in Russia, especially now. But i try not to take youtube too seriously at the moment. I just have fun making the videos that i make. If it gets views fantastic. Have you ever thought about making a trip back to England for a week. You could make a video about how much England has changed since you moved to Russia. I get you. Thinking up ideas for videos each week can be tiresome. especially when some videos do not pick up many views. I thought i had a different channel because i am able to show life in Britain and Russia. Sam. When i finally move to Russia, I'll come and play some football with you to make a fun video 😂😂.

I guess in your particular case there is one more aspect as our patriotic communities frequently promote that type of content.. I.e. if I as a bilingual person watch your videos to, say, study your pronunciation to keep my English up-to-date, there are a lot of people who watched your content based on the following statement "see this foreign guy is shocked by the amount of goods in his local store!".

Could you partner with a Content producer outside of Russia, and both report on the same subject, But from different perspectives? You could report on the Russian perspective and state that? Your partner would have a different perspective. For an expat, your reporting is reasonably fair. One would think that would be less profitable than what most expats do. I thought most successful expats played up their new adopted country, and lamented the plight of residents in their old country. Thereby attracting disgruntled folks from the old country wanting to vent their spleen, and wanting to move to this new Shangri-La. Residents of the adopted country love it, you're patting them on the back, and telling them they're special. It's too bad you weren't from the states. The pool of disgruntled Americans is bottomless. lol.
