This is a fantastic tutorial - clear, concise and simple to follow. I am a college lecturer and have taught hundreds of IT students, so, professionally speaking this is a brilliant tutorial. Only one small comment. The the photo on About Us page has no padding and text is tight against it. I installed JCE Editor which allows you to add padding. Makes it more professional. Best Joomla video tutorial on the internet!

Hey I am having issues with the Slideshow. Instead of a slideshow I get the images wrapped with the text I added.Every image with the text is next to each other. Is there any solution for this ? Thanks

+kristo lito It's pretty simple to solve that problem. You just have to enter a bigger width for your images in the field "item width", it is 75 by default (at least for me it was like this). Cheers.

I think it's because he's working with Joomla 2.2, and right now the latest version is Joomla 3.3. You could try installing Joomla 2.5 and download the compatible version of ice, but it would probably be more of a hassle than just using the provided style.

Hi. Pretty much everyone is having problems with the IceSlideshow. You are referring to the old video (with the same name as this one). Watch this one and download the template on this video. Everything is updated and you shouldn't have any problems. I dont use the iceslideshow in this video.

Top tutorial. Thorough (and long) but not slow. The entire video had useful info. There are so many tutorials which either go too fast and skip over assumed knowledge, or go the other way and labour every step. I like the pace and followed doing my own, slightly different thing _most_ of the way through. Had to back up when i was trying to be a bit smartypants but that was ok it was my bad. I had no problems with the future template installing - it was just a hassle getting through the ice theme convoluted process. Not your problem. Also there doesn't seen to be a free fox contact module any more - no probs - one of the good points of your tut was to show how generic the process is and I'll just find another form (I don't need bells and whistles) - likewise with any other extension. Hats off to you sir for a top job! This is probably the only tutorial of this length which I have watched all the way through and prior to coming across this one i wasted more time watching many other, far less useful videos. also for 3 year old vid with later version, the slight differences in UI were not a problem to deal with because of the way you approached the delivery. I'm going to stop gushing now :)

Great tutorial. Didn't need everything in it (already found a thing or two by myself) but it definitely helped me to get over the point where I got stuck on my first Joomla! project. Rosana, this may suck but try it: make the Home article, but just type a period, just a dot and change the font color to "white". This will appear to have nothing on the page and you can basically get over that hump. If you are looking to get rid of the full home component then its a bit more complicated than what someone would explain on KZbin comments. But it can be done.

For those who got an error please open the file named group_base.php. in line 197 add & as you see the function getListByParameters( $params ){ return array(); } doesn't have the sign & before $params. Change it as you see now function getListByParameters( &$params ){ return array(); }. Save your file, reload your website.

Hi Prasad... For some odd reason SOME people (including me) are having major issues with the carousel module... I still can't figure out the problem. The best solution for now is to get a new image slider. I reccommend Code7 Responsive Slider (because it's responsive just like the theme). You shouldn't have any problems with that.

I dont know what the issue may be in the end but I would start with checking the size of all your images to make sure that they are identical. For a slider like that you can try like 900px width by 300px in height. This is usually very nice looking. Just make sure your slide images are all that exact width and height.

I see that it exists and is called "blockquote" on the position guide on the icetheme website, but it doesn't appear in the backend. 2) How can I change the background colors? As I have understood, there is no module position for that. The will by default load the page content there. In his tutorial, he placed the contact form on the page by 1. creating a custom position (contactform) for the contact module he installed. 2. referencing that custom position in the body of the contact us article by inserting {loadposition contactform} as the article's content

You can also find a component that allows content creation (extensions.joomla.org) or whatever component you want on your home page, then go to MENUS->MAIN MENU->HOME-> then assign menu type to the new component. This will place your new component on the home page instead of the article or anything else. Hope this helps.

This is a great tutorial. I cannot really follow the cloudaccess tutorials as they seem to speak & navigate too fast, therefore hard to follow because they also jump from one function to another with extra tabs open, just gets confusing. Your tutorial is explained better in a careful simplistic manner. I have Joomla 3.1 installed from my host cpanel using 'softaculous' (one click install). Do you have this same basic tutorial for the newer version of Joomla 3.1?
