12:30 That "aww" got me lol Quite an appropriate reaction to a vacuum failure...

I just passed my Instrument Check ride yesterday, and this video really shows how task saturation can really stack up on you, I had to remind myself a few times to focus on the task at hand and not think about the next approach. Instrument flying is definitely no cake walk.......Great video as always!

Quite possibly the only in-line advertisement I don't immediately hate. Flying eyes picked a good brand ambassador. I might end up buying some one day.

As someone still working up to flying my first solo, it's fascinating to see instrument training. It seems like learning to fly all over again.

Haven't watched the video yet, but this part is just too funny. 3:15 Ohh, better do a taxi check; yups, the AI is good. 4:00 Lines up on the runway - the AI is crooked. I will keep watching if an explanation shows up.

😂 It corrected itself. But you’re right, it was fine, then wasn’t, then was again.

I'm just now learning how to fly with instrument failures. Last flight the instructor dimmed the G3X and we couldn't get it back on again 🤣 I had to fly by magnetic compass since they were also blocking the G5 while trying to get the G3X back on 😅 great experience for us both!

I feel the pain of Otto using those damn things. I get massive headaches from too much sun in my eyes and was dying during IFR...which is out of date due to non use, sigh. Maybe I need to order some of those lay over things for my Flying Eyes. I think he needs a set for his groomsman gift maybe?? hint hint. lol Perhaps I need to hit you up to do an IFR update session. Have fun up there!

@LewDix On the takeoff roll 4:01, the attitude indicator was showing a bank of 10 degrees, is this due to gyro precession? Is it still ok to depart? How can you detect gyro precesion in IMC?

Sorry. NOT "expertly executed on the radio". error " ... we are about 8 miles *23* Southwest ... " correct " ... we are about 8 miles Southwest ..." Use of prepositions "to" and "for" can be confused with numbers "two" and "four". Also, definite article "the" is discouraged because of aural similarity with number "three". Similar reason "tree" is used for "three". It is all designed toward overcoming static-filled airwaves, squelch, noise-cancelling equipment, and minimize interpretation think-load on controllers in multilingual towers with high operational tempos. Related: Giving the ATIS letter right after the callsign immediately tells the Control that you are inbound and planning interaction with their airspace and runways. This gives Control immediate data eliminating all other possibilities, greatly reducing Controller thinkload. I really enjoy your vids. You keep the fun in flying. Whether Pilot Flying or Pilot Monitoring, Otto would be great fun when sharing pilot duties.

We think a vacuum pump failure at night over water was what happened to N13384. All pilots should know what a failed vacuum pump would look like in IMC, and how to get on the ground safely. AI starts falling to one side, the mistake is banking the other way until you're in a graveyard spiral. Pilots need to look at all instruments to figure out what's going on. Your life literally depends on it.
