Cockpit view during an ILS approach to a wet runway 04L in Nice (NCE), flying an A320, with a tailwind initially, and some turbulence for extra fun.

@ marcdir NC is the Locator for Nice airport. It is in Antibes, 6 miles south west of the field. A Locator is a non directional beacon with a range theoretically limited to 25 nautical miles, used for alignment with the runway before picking up the ILS beam. On your instruments (ADF, RMI or ND), a needle points to the station and swings upon station passage. Look closely to the ND (right screen) and you'll see the green needle begin to slowly swing when approaching NC.

@draoi99 All aircrafts equipped with a Navigation Display (ND) will give this pictorial representation of the route to be flown - in this case, the ILS course - as opposed to the "old" display shown on an Omni Bearing Selector (OBS) or Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) and their basic needle. However, raw data of the ILS remains displayed on the Primary Flight Display (PFD), the screen on the left (one magenta triangle at the bottom for the localizer, one on the right for the glide slope).

@ponmlk This one was shot a couple of weeks ago. It was stored in my vault and shouldn't have made it to KZbin, but since you were looking for something like that... Glad you liked it !

@starbreez3 Wow, tough one! I hadn't noticed before but you are right : usually there is "minimums" call -not on our older aircrafts though- as long as you fill the Approach PERF page correctly with the decision

@thejoshcoyne9 The airline I fly for is as far as I know the only operator of all four narrow-body Airbus variants of the A320 : the A318, A319, A320, A321. As they are pretty much the same aircraft, except for the length of the fuselage, you get to fly all of them with a single type rating.

@percboy93 The ceiling was around 800ft, it wasn't fog, but stratus clouds.

Hello! Great video... I have a question though, why around 200'ft there was no warning of minimums? I thought there would always be a warning like that! (I'm an amateur, just really love airplanes). Subscribing btw!

Excellent video. Are you always able to see the line of the ILS on your screen like that? Or is it something that's only in the newer planes?
