Around 50 seconds of this video, why didn’t you stop at the stop sign? You just stopped at the first white line? I got confused, i thought you’re supposed to stop in alignment with the stop sign?

Thanks for the comment. The first "white line" is actually a decorative strip of concrete which separates the bitumen and brick paved road surfaces. The painted stop line is exactly where the car stopped. You stop at the stop line - not the stop sign. These confusing aspects of roads in test areas is precisely why these videos have been made. Thanks for watching.

@@ilukadrivingschool8696 thank you. I asked because I failed due to this. I stopped when the stop sign is in alignment with the car. 😐 The examiner told me I stopped too early. :( Thanks for clarifying.

Let’s say I’m turning right at a roundabout. There’s trees in the middle of the roundabout so I can’t see to the other side where I’m intending to exit the roundabout. I approach where I’m going to exit the roundabout and see there is a pedestrian wanting to cross but I’m already halfway through the roundabout so can’t just stop even though it’s not my right of way. Would I get marked down for that?

You wouldn't stop for a pedestrian in a roundabout unless they looked like they were stepping out in front of you - but you drive with caution when there are pedestrians in close proximity. Drivers behind you aren't expecting your vehicle to abruptly stop in a roundabout for no reason. Pedestrians don't have rights in roundabouts (unless there's a crosswalk at the exit - which would be vary rare because of the danger of vehicles stopping) - it's all about vehicle traffic flow.

I know this is an old video but at 8:24 when you go to make the u-turn what do you do if someone is coming down the street on the right? Do you wait on the left side of the road with the right indicator on for them to pass as you wouldn't want to be caught stuck completing the u-turn halfway... also wondering if it looks like you won't get a chance to complete that u-turn for awhile due to traffic, would it be better to continue straight and try a different spot to turn around? Thanks in advance for any reply.

If you haven't started turning yet, then you can turn your indicator off and very carefully proceed straight ahead with caution. Be careful because other drivers might still think you're turning and might try to turn onto the street in front of you. If you've already started turning just continue with the turn and then look for a suitable opportunity to turn around somewhere in that street. It might be a driveway, laneway, sidestreet or roundabout. The key point is that you need to have a Plan B and you definitely can't hang around at the corner or half way through the u-turn because you would be blocking traffic and probably stopping the other car from going because they can't see past you. Great question.

hello , when if you are waiting in the middle of traffic queue and the car in front of you move forward 3 or 4 meters for some reason but the traffic light is still in red light. Do you stay still or do you follow move forward a bit more ?

You should aim to be about three metres behind the vehicle in front. Typically you should be able to see the rear wheels of the car in front in contact with the road - as a rough guide. But that depends on your height, your seated position and the height and profile of your car's bonnet. If the car in front moves forward appreciably, you should also move ahead to maintain the optimum gap. If they just crawl forward a few centimetres, don't bother. It always helps to tell the assessor what you are doing so they don't worry that you are taking off. You don't want them to go for the brakes because they think you are taking off in a dangerous situation. But if you don't move forward, you might be blocking a car either directly behind you or a few cars back who may be trying to move into a left or right turning lane (slip road). This often occurs because drivers aren't fully aware of their surroundings, their road position and the effect that their road position may be having on others.

0:41 When we pass blue car, we have to indicate right and check blind spot. If I park my car behind the blue car and stop a while. Then I want to go, as usual check rare mirror, indicate right and blind spot. Is that all? Sorry make u confused

When you leave the kerb to rejoin the traffic, you always have to 1. check your mirrors, 2. indicate, and 3. check your blind spot (the same direction that you are indicating). (that''s Mirrors, Indicate, Blindspot - MIB) which is an acronym well known from the Men in Black movies. Or you can use MILO (the drink) for Mirrors, Indicate, Look Over). Whenever you return to the kerb (to park or prepare to park), or leave the kerb (moving away from a parked position or moving away forwards after reversing out of a driveway/alleyway/laneway), you should check your mirrors (central and driver's side), indicate, and check your blind spot. Some instructors advise to only indicate if there is a vehicle behind you - but that is not best practice. The whole point of checking the blind spot is that at the stage of the manoeuvre where you have checked your mirrors, you aren't completely sure whether or not there is another vehicle outside the range of your mirror - and if there is, they need to know that you're about to move away. There is another video on this channel showing a pedestrian walking in front of the car from behind the driver's shoulder as we move away. The other reason that you should always indicate in this situation is that it develops 'muscle memory' so that you can execute properly in your driving test even if you are so nervous that you can't think straight! Thanks for the question - and thanks for watching!
