I must say that I am shocked that this tune has gotten THIS MANY plays . And it's obvious that it's not just the bands keyboard player geeking out and playing it over and over to pump it up. There are 969 reactions as of today. That's a lot for an obscure band as this.

May Life hangs now before me, Some faint and hollow dream. Things I may remember, And some I haven't seen. Chivalry and valor, Have gone the way of pride. The tide is slowly turning, And there's nowhere left to hide. My thought turns to the common man, The lights gone from their eyes. Beneath their tattered robes, They hide the pieces of their lives. The time has changed from magic, To a world of human ways. An old magician wrings his hands, And begs for yesterday. Pull the knife out slowly Lord; Let me join your alibi. With Godliness on our side, Surely we can't tell a lie. Pull the knife out slowly Lord; Let me revel in your pain. The sacrifice of progress, Will destroy all that remains... The sounds that still remind me, Of the voices of the past; The wind that blows behind me, And the shattering of glass. The days are surely numbered, And the hours growing long. The echoes fade behind me, Like some old forgotten song. Pull the knife out slowly Lord; Let me join your alibi. With Godliness on our side, Surely we can't tell a lie. Pull the knife out slowly Lord; Let me revel in your pain. The sacrifice of progress, Will destroy all that remains... Days gone by forgotten, In ageless books and plays. The values of the ancients, Elude us to this day. A final word of warning, From the ashes of the past. What is put up in a hurry, Can surely never last. Pull the knife out slowly Lord; Let me join your alibi. With Godliness on our side, Surely we can't tell a lie. Pull the knife out slowly Lord; Let me revel in your pain. The sacrifice of progress, Will destroy all that remains...

written in the 80's. 1987, I think. Maybe '89. Pretty sure it's noted in the CD booklet. Basement recordings of this were done in 1991. EDIT - Seems I may be memory challenged on my statement ;). Maybe I'm mixed up with some of the songs from the debut album.

@@prosoloist Revealed this band last week and bought almost all CDs (VERY hard to get these days). Inlet of the Children album says: "Late of Consistence" and "Your darkest hour" written and arranged 1992. Album was recorded and mixed Feb - Mar 1995 at Secret Sound Studios, Baltimore.
@prosoloist3 жыл бұрын
@@Proguli interesting. I was going by memory. I will have to check my records on this. Maybe I'm mixed up with some of the songs from the debut album. Exodus is from '87 for sure. I keep saying that I am going to upload a Basement recording of that one that was done in the late 80's prior to Glenn, Dennis or Mickey coming into the fold. Had a sax player come in and do some nice work on it. One of these days.... Oh yeah, Marionette is from '80s as well. Again, prior to Glenn, Dennis or Mickey coming into the fold.
@prosoloist3 жыл бұрын
@@Proguli I looked at the booklet just now and it's a little messed up with that 1992 bit. If you look at the lyrics you will see at the end there's a name and year. The names there were for the lyrical credit. For Late Of Conscience it says Kraus '88. That is correct, not the '92 mention. Eye Next and Darkest say '90 and I could believe that. Also of interesting note is IN OUR LIVES says McLaughlin '95. That's not accurate either. It's from a few years earlier and Kraus wrote the meat of the lyrics and McL contributed. But when McL mentioned that later , Kraus said no, so McL was credited ;). Details, details
