When people say to me that the prog rock genre is dead, i just play this track from Mystery to remind all of them that prog rock is alive and very well. This is super quality music at it's very best and it doesn't get any better.

To me Mystery is the best progressive rock band since the glory day's of the seventies. Great compositions and lyrics, great musicians, lovely vocals. The music is complex and progressive but always beautiful and harmonious. Mystery has got the progressive vibe I like. Way too many bands nowadays (in my humble opinion) are leaning too much towards a very complex heavy/metal rock style and are too often missing out on the good melody.

I agree with you 100 per cent Frank!! Teddy U.K. xx

I agree Frank. Mystery have got it about right here. They desperately need some brilliant keyboard long rifts though (see my other comment on this). Mystery must take great care not to drift off into a head-banging, monotonous style that has no melodies that the listener can enjoy, follow - and become familiar with (you can’t say “hey! I know that tune,”). Many bands are too heavy for my liking, putting out a sort of mish-mash continual drone of output from each guy just doing his own thing, without much co-ordination. I don’t call that Prog. I call it a NOISE. Mystery are SUPERB!!

French Canadians! Good Rock has go back to the underground but the montreal scene is vibrant with good bands and some are spreading their wings in both french and english. In fact Montreal has become a magnet for everything underground. Not just Music :-)

This is an interesting piece of work, the fact that the whole album is a musical masterpiece intelligently done. To say I hear this and I hear that would be unfair to this band as they stand alone in their own musical area of greatness. I say no more.

Having listened to MYSTERY a lot now and having watched their live performances, most unfortunately I have one criticism….the performance of the Keyboard player. He either isn’t given enough opportunity to shine - or his talent is limited…I think it’s the latter. With a Group of this calibre, there could be some amazing keyboard rifts in many tracks. His performance seems weak and ineffectual. With Genesis being my love since 1973, I’ve got used to Keyboard players of the calibre as the great Tony Banks and the keyboard and piano players with Supertramp and YES, The Who, etc. of that era. In fact, the keyboard player in my brother’s group is brilliant compared to the Mystery player….and his group are nowhere near as famous. I can imagine some of these tracks with powerful and tactful rifts on the Keyboard that make bring you to tears, or make you sit up and say WOW!! (as some of the superb players in the past do). So sorry to say this folks. The Keyboard input on the tracks is like an afterthought. I feel they need a somewhat extrovert Keyboard player to compliment the current line up of excellent, confident musicians. Take a look at some of Steve Hackett live performances to see a great Keyboard player! What incredible guitar players!! The Bass Player is brilliant…he certainly makes those Taurus Base Pedals earn their money…brilliant constant use of the pedals - he’s certainly not scared to use them!! I say this because theTaurus pedals can be quite tricky to use - and you have to be very confident to use them with some gusto, as this guy does…hats off to him!! You can’t beat the base that the Taurus pedals can give out. My brother has Taurus Pedals. Famous Bass Player Nick Beggs uses the Taurus with confidence and force. He plays Bass a lot with Steve Hackett. Just watch Beggs stand there wearing a long frock coat, a Top Hat, with his hand in this pocket and play the Taurus pedals on the last section of the Steve Hackett video of Shadow of the Heirophant. Well worth checking out.

Teddy Burr then just listen to the band Huis. Also a Canadian band and with guitarist Michel St Père from Mystery. A lot of more keyboard are in their songs.
