Ilya Samsonov came up huge while the Jets got a 2-on-0. The Leafs gave the puck away on the powerplay but Samsonov made three saves in a row to keep the game tied.

@@jeffreycairns767 I had multiple arguments with people laying the blame on Samsonov for multiple loses in December, even going into detail about the 6-5 OTL and every goal against where his team in front of him left him alone twice in that game. Yet they were still upset they lost and would never blame the star players that were screwing up, so they went after the goalie. Always cheering for the goalies, its the hardest job on the ice.

You can see after the 0-2 3 robs, and the puck came right back 20 sec later and sammy froze the puck he was thinking, "man this team is costing me my career" (unless he plays GOD level leafs lose lol)

@alexe606 Have you not seen some of the lines or the way they perform on the PP? That's on the coach. He sits players that should be playing, he plays guys that shouldn't be, he allows his players to do whatever they want with no repercussions, etc. Again, all on the coach. Within a couple games, he allowed Nylander to go off as the puck was in their own end. The new skater barely got on when they scored against the Leafs. That SHOULD go on Nylander but it won't and nothing was done. The other was sitting Tavares for 25 minutes straight and then throwing him on the ice with little time left and expecting him to score. They need a coach that will make them accountable for their actions, especially the stupid ones, and know how to run the lines properly. They have a great team but Keefe is not the answer. On the PP, everytime they get possession, 3 guys skate towards the center line and drop it back. There's 3-4 players now standing at the opposing blue line waiting for 1 player to hopefully do something but they rarely do.

The core is really good, probably up there with the best in the league, Matthews is the best goal scorer in the world, but the depth is pretty questionable. The defence also isn't great, the d-zone structure is absolutely on the coach but the d-core isn't, and aside from Reilly they really don't have a lot of consistently dependable defencemen. Liljegren's looked pretty good from what I've seen, but TJ Brodie has been struggling and Gio's dumb penalties and lack of foot speed are starting to hurt, especially when the special teams aren't good. And the goaltending has been almost a constant question mark too, Sammy's been fantastic the last couple games, but if he goes into another slump, you either ride Martin Jones (who isn't a starter anymore) or a rookie goalie who doesn't have a lot of NHL experience. Aside from the core, this is at best an okay team, but absolutely not a contender, and that's on the GM more than the coach.

@alexe606 The d has played some amazing games this year, as has the entire team. The fact they don't do it every night doesn't mean the team isn't great. Of the current d, the only player I'd get rid of is Brodie.

It is absolutely infuriating as a Jets fan, that we get to face a goalie who has been absolute trash most of the year, on a team with absolute trash defense and terrifying offense, hold them scoreless for 60 full minutes, and then get a chance like this shut down... Guys When samsonov was playing terrible it wasn’t his fault, at the start of the season the Defense played terrible and a lot of goals went in because of it and everyone blamed it on samsonov so he lost his confidence
