I have the same model, however the gold plating wore off on the bottom eventhough I only use it at my desk. I wonder if you have the same issue?

Yes, I have the same problem. But any coating will come off over time, that's just the way things go. I'm a watchmaker and work in a jewelry store and I can say from experience that no coating lasts forever and a lighter made of real gold would be very expensive.

@@warlockcallistro Thnak you for your reply. One could think that on an item that is expecetd to be held many times, and is moderately-high priced would have a 1 micron or so plating, which could last for quite a few years. Seems that at the price point it could be possible to have qaulity plating. I have Dpont knck off lighter that I use all the time, it is 3 years old and still looks great. It is what it is... Just one pipers opinion :-) Thanks again for your prompt reply.

Yeah I also had to think about Dupont lighters when I read your comment... Their coating seems to be significantly better, but these lighters cost 5 to 10 times as much

@@warlockcallistro Well, actually I am speaking about the Dupont "knock off" which cost about $50. 1-2 microns of gold plating is not that big of a deal when you get down to it. The Gold?Briar Im Carona is about $225-$250 USD that's enough marke up in my view. Anyhow, as I mentioned it is what it is, just disappointing.

I Have a question, if you open the lever arm and put it to your ear can you hear lighter fluid leaking out? Like a hiss. Im asking because I bought one from Amazon and it hiss.
@warlockcallistro2 жыл бұрын
Yes, and it should be like this... As soon as you open the lever arm, gas comes out of the valve and as long as you leave it open the gas continues to come out. Otherwise you won't be able to ignite the lighter. The closed lever arm is just pushing the valve into the housing to stop gas from leaking. And if you lift it, the valve comes out of the housing to release the gas.

@@warlockcallistro thank you very much I thought something was wrong with it but now I know it's a decent lighter for 19 bucks. Can you tell me, is there anything different from a $150 old boy and a $20 old boy? Or is it just the name people pay for?
@warlockcallistro2 жыл бұрын
@@spanishfly7709 I would need the 20$ version to see the differences, but I am sure you pay a good amount for the name.
