Seems like they need to just make a sensor package to put on standard tractors... the tractors are already all digitally controlled... you just need to be able to get out and leave it to do it's thing while you do something else. then you can drive it to the next field or use it as you normally do.

I love technology! I can see the future now. These robots cultivating and planting while you sleep. I can definitely see it cutting grass for hay or silage. Can this one do any harvesting? Maybe if they can make it lighter, there will be less chance of getting stuck in the mud. Saw a video just the other day of a guy spraying his field with a drone. I'd also be interested in the longevity of the machine. With a price tag like that, it probably wouldn't be worth it if it breaks down a lot or has to be replaced in 10 years or so. But if that thing will last you years and years, it could be worth it in the long run.

Agree with this, same way that it makes sense in places like US/Canada or Australia. Giant fields that you can sort of set it going and forget about it while you go do something else. The less downtime it has either through not using it or having to set it up/move it somewhere else the more it makes sense

Hi Crawford, I know it's the way farming is going but what happens when you break a tine or a bearing goes bad and it runs for hours doing further damage, it just seems you would need someone babysitting it whilst it's working, that's why I think it will be normal tractors that have been retrofitted with this technology but still having someone in the drivers seat when things go wrong.

Hi, to answer your question... operators can remotely monitor a number of parameters, including viewing live camera feeds. Implement manufacturers are developing ‘smart’ implements that are integrated with the AgBot. This will monitor shear bolts, auto reset and even sound as part of the standard process.

I wouldn't be surprised to see these poping up on farms in the near future but do agree they have to be more of a multi purpose machine to get the value for money as that is some price tag. The question is yes it is more expensive than a tractor ATM but if you include wages into the calculation as well plus reliability ie being poorly. I bet the price gap is not as big as you think and like you said it might be cheaper than contracting someone for a few months of the year when you struggle. Just a thought. And if it could do more as well like spraying sowing ploughing it adds more walue.

@soilessentials
@soilessentials Күн бұрын
Hi, to answer your question... In the design process, electric was chosen due to the efficiency of conversion (the diesel engine has a constant load from the generator) and also the torque generated and delivered to the track technology. This solution means its capable of delivering a high torque and power through the track system, in either direction.
@dfgaJK
