I'm so happy for you, hope you enjoy this year abroad!!! I'm about to start my second year of Japanese studies so it motivates me so much to keep practicing
@jammydoughnuts3 ай бұрын
I’m about to go into my second year and have a choice of almost 20 partner universities. I’m ngl, I’ve been doing my research and accommodation is pretty much my first priority. I’m in my late 20s and have already lived by myself. When I went to uni previously, I ALWAYS had en suite and even lived in a studio as I did not want to share anything with anyone. It’s crazy to me that some of the Japanese universities actually have accommodation that would suit me, but their allocation is completely random meaning it isn’t guaranteed. There are also some that ONLY offer accommodation with shared bathrooms which doesn’t suit me at all. My first, second & third choices are all going to be ones where ALL the accommodation offered to international students are en suite (some even have their own kitchenette and washing machines which is amazing). There are also an odd few where the male dorms have shared bathrooms but the female dorms are en suite which is also great too. It’s much more difficult to have to leave your room to use the bathroom as a woman when it’s that time of the month, when you’re getting ready & have to transport all your products with you, etc. I will consider private accommodation though depending on the area. I know it’d be very easy to find modern, spacious student apartments in Tokyo, but for the universities in smaller towns and rural areas it’d be very difficult.

Congrats on the move! Its such a big deal. Missed your videos. It really helped me get back to focusing on Japanese. Now I am a student in Japan, studying Japanese. I hope you enjoy your time there! Insurance note: Also it seems the JP government makes everyone sign up for their health insurance from what I know. Thankfully as a student you should be paying less. Good luck in Japan!!

Actually Japan is a country with a low cost of living especially compared to the UK (and the pound to yen exchange rate saves you). In terms of travel on the trains students get a discount for the travel between to and from uni sort of like a student oyster card. (this is for tokyo Idk about other cities)

I'm about to start my second year BA Japanese at SOAS and it's so great to have your videos to inspire me to keep working hard! I'm excited to hopefully go to Japan too next year! So I'm really scared I won't be able to do well.

@@Icedcoffeee1 Hi, as someone studying Japanese BA at The University of Sheffield ( I’m in my 1st year) I have a few jobs, jobs that I hope to get in the future. I’ll list from top to bottom of most wanted to least -civil servant (diplomatic service order/diplomat) -anthropologist -political anthropologist -social cultural anthropologists - Area study specialists *it really depends. You can research these jobs. Other people on my course are interested in Translation and the film industry. As someone mainly interested in Sino-western and sino-African affairs I mainly relegate myself to politics,history or culture. Hope this helps 😊😊😊
