Thank you for this lovely video!! I'm getting back into Japanese after quite a long time so I am starting again. I find the amount of information available on the web about studying Japanese overwhelming these days but this video was a joy to watch and provided really quick and easy tips and advice. I've just ordered the short stories book, and I recently got Genki from Vinted to give a go. When last studied it in a classroom environment we learned quite formal Japanese so looking forward to using your tips to get a more casual and real-life awareness of the language. Thanks again!
waaa, i always find myself listening to a bts old song playlist too😆🫶🏽

Why are people so obsessed with loud background music?! I just can't hear you well enough to understand what you're talking about. It's really frustrating.

I was debating only writing later for characters I don't know well or can't remember. Just bc my time is so limited and hand writing so much can take up a lot of time.

I use Satori Reader on a daily basis, reading at least 2 chapters per day. It has dramatically increased my reading ability. I think once you have a basic understanding of N4 grammar, Satori Reader is a great next step. The Nutshell Grammar series as highlighted here is absolutely fantastic!!

I’m about to go into my second year and have a choice of almost 20 partner universities. I’m ngl, I’ve been doing my research and accommodation is pretty much my first priority. I’m in my late 20s and have already lived by myself. When I went to uni previously, I ALWAYS had en suite and even lived in a studio as I did not want to share anything with anyone. It’s crazy to me that some of the Japanese universities actually have accommodation that would suit me, but their allocation is completely random meaning it isn’t guaranteed. There are also some that ONLY offer accommodation with shared bathrooms which doesn’t suit me at all. My first, second & third choices are all going to be ones where ALL the accommodation offered to international students are en suite (some even have their own kitchenette and washing machines which is amazing). There are also an odd few where the male dorms have shared bathrooms but the female dorms are en suite which is also great too. It’s much more difficult to have to leave your room to use the bathroom as a woman when it’s that time of the month, when you’re getting ready & have to transport all your products with you, etc. I will consider private accommodation though depending on the area. I know it’d be very easy to find modern, spacious student apartments in Tokyo, but for the universities in smaller towns and rural areas it’d be very difficult.
