I'm a 67 year old Australian woman, I've never seen a spider that big except on KZbin. I have seen a kangaroo on someone's front lawn, and often see them hoping down the road at night going past my house and I live on a main street, but near the outskirts of the city. I use to see lots of kangaroos in the carpark at work when I was working in a government department back in the late 80's. I use to see lots of snakes when I was in my teens, but I haven't seen one in years. My son did find a white tailed spider in his bed two nights ago. It really depends on what part of Australia you live in, whether you will see snakes, if you live in a country town or on a farm, you are more likely to come across snakes. I've never seen a koloa or wombat except at an animal park, on TV or on KZbin. Same with spiders, some areas are more likely to have larger spiders than others. I remember my son and his mates running out of his bedroom when we were sitting having a chat, they were teens at the time, they just ran out and didn't say anything and the spider was on the wall right behind me, I just grabbed a container and scooped it in and took it outside, it was just a little smaller than the palm of my hand it was a huntsman, haven't seen one since, my son is now in his 40's. We have over 10,000 spider species in Australia, and only a few of these are dangerous, and you rarely see them as they try to stay away from humans if they can, unless it's raining a lot, then they might try to come inside to get out of the rain if the can't find some cover.

Wouldn't hit all of them in one go. Depending on the area come across one or two. Slightly higher chance in rural places to see them in town but not close enough to touch.. when I was little there was a lady that was a wildlife carer two doors down that looked after a joey as it lost its mum in the middle of town. Have seen roos on University grounds here where I live in the distance going for some green grass but not close enough to touch them. See more dead ones on the highways then anything. A zoo or a wildlife park is the most likely where you would see them all together.

Thank the Lord above that they didn't because even their spiders there are just as deadly as some snakes here in America, so HELL NO to that one. I don't even want to visit that scary place myself, call me chicken sh*t if you want to I'm OK with that. I am alive and safe here in North Carolina. Thank you very much.

There are few deaths from snakebite in the USA because all venomous snakes here have antivenom available. Unlike some in Australia
@AprilTurner-o8e7 күн бұрын
@anitaford4138 I'm definitely with you. Have you seen the size of some of the spiders over there? Look them up, there's your future nightmare, I'm warning you. Because I did, and damn they can get huge, BUT the huge ones aren't the most deadly its the little bitty tiny one's you have to worry about. Don't even get me started on the snakes or crocodiles. The water areas are where the nasty and definitely meaner than our america alligators. Stay close or in, yes, the salt water crocodiles. So if the tiny but dangerous small spider scares the sh*t out of me, then you should know those. Terrify me to death. NO JOKE. Everything I have put on here, I did my research so I wouldn't offend anyone, and also, I didn't want to sound like a dumbass. The stuff I have read about Australia 🇦🇺 it is a gorgeous place, but way too many dangerous animals over or down there for my liking, that's all. So, to anyone who is from there, I didn't mean any DISRESPECT at all, but your country just really scares me.
@nono71056 күн бұрын
@aspidistraeliator What? No, all snakes in Australia have antivenom available. We're one of the world leaders in producing antivenom. Which is why there are so few deaths from snakebites in Australia, despite having the most venomous snakes in the world. The reason you have so few deaths from snakebite in the US is because your snakes are little cuddly wuddly fuzzy wuzzy harmless legless lizards.
@nono71056 күн бұрын
Eh, not really. I mean, our second deadliest spider is the Redback, which is essentially the same as or a little bit less dangerous as a Black Widow. And you already have those in the US, right? They're quite timid spiders, don't come indoors, and are easy to avoid. No real danger unless you leave your shoes outside and don't check them before putting them on. Or unless you just walk blindly into a shed without checking for spider webs. As for our deadliest spider, that's easy, just don't go to Sydney. It's a shithole anyway.

Also for those wanting to know more about cute australian wild life there are a lot of misconceptions: Koalas are generally very docile and friendly unless provoked in which case their claws are extremely sharp and rhey cannot spread chlamidya to humans. Kangaroos are very large when fully grown and will occasionally(and very rarely) pick fights with humans, they are the ultimate boxers without any training. Wallubys are basically a small version of a kangaroo and can be quite cuddily but don't just go up to one in the wild and try to pet it, they can still attack and it will not be fun. Wombats are very cute but can scratch and bite but usually don't. All wild animals are dangerous if you're not careful but most in close contact with humans for extended periods of time(local neighbourhood ones) are generally pretty chill, just be careful and if you really want to pet one go to a sanctuary or zoo that offers that kind of thing because those are almost always going to be friendly, stay safe and dont touch spiders cuz theyre gross😂

You should see a magpie during breeding season. I’m an American who lives in Australia and when I first moved here I was worried by everyone as soon as breeding season began. The spiders that come into the house eat the insects that you don't want = good (bloody flies are a pest). Huntsman come inside when it's about to rain and leave afterwards. They are not bad. As for the wildlife, leave them alone and they'll leave you alone. We live on acreage and have a resident eastern brown snake that roams in the vicinity of the house (saw him slithering along the front verandah once). When we have a close encounter, he slowly moves one way and we swiftly go in the other. We have mutual understanding.
