The taps are called Supa Taps. First made back in the 50s. The little pin that dropped out @15:49 is a valve. The water supply doesn't need shutting of to work on these as when the heads on it pushes the pin up allowing water flow but when you take the heads off the water pressure closes the valves allowing you to work on them live. You can still get the washers in some washer packs from City Plumbing

Good old ‘supataps’ 😆ive got a whole load of those washers. The taps were a great design, you can re washer them without turning off the water! They were just very ugly. They also made a plastic version of them that had a habit of snapping off completely at the stem🙈😵😵. Tidy job again though mate, i used to use the mcalpine couplings on lead and just cut the middle part out with a stanley👊🏼👍🏼

Those taps can be a right pain to get apart, on several I have broken the bits that stick out completely off while trying to undo the first nut. Ended up having to replace both taps!! Great job you did Dan.😊

Love a bathroom tickle up😃, quick tip, put some plumbers mate on the pedestal before you place the basin on, I’ve chipped a few pedestals before I learnt to do that, might save yourself some hassle.

Must admit I’ve never come across them taps before…. Lead waste pipes and brass traps yes… even old copper waste pipes. These toilets and basins are a good simple little job to get done. No faffy posh fixings and hidden cisterns to mess about with. Good access for all things to be serviced. Hope you have a great Xmas mate and get some time to wind down with the family! Those taps are called super taps, you need a specific type of washer for them. You can change the washers without turning off the water.

Good job mate! I use the Floplast WF08 flexible coupler connecting onto lead, a bit more expensive then the standard coupler but I really rate them!

I normally wipe a copper pipe into a lead waste if it’s in good condition, then connect a mcalpine fitting on to it you are a lot younger than me so you’ve probably never seen that done

Bet your dad tells you the same as I’m going to say. With all the modern materials used nowadays, you young’uns don’t know you’re born😂. When I was an apprentice connecting to lead waste was wiping a small piece of 32mm copper into the lead with a ‘lip’ joint and then adapting to push fit plastic waste. Pushfit waste pipe was the same size as the copper in those days, before metrication, (well before). I’m 74 now so work it out.Have a good Christmas and keep the videos coming

Supa-taps :rare as these days, I don't remember seeing any about for a long time, probably mid 2000's Flexi's have their place and this job looked to be a good candidate! as clearly the customer didn't have the budget for a new bathroom, soil stack etc....... and the flexi jot the job done without knocking the wall out and altering the stack.
