I am so excited for you! I am also happy to hear that you put your relationship first before having a baby. My partner and I believe that if parents try their best to have a strong foundation between themselves, then whenever life grants the opportunity to have a baby, the idea of raising the baby won't be as scary. Because you know that your relationship is a strong unit and that should hopefully reflect on your children as they grow up 🙌🏼

Hi Becca, congratulations! For what it's worth, I wouldn't plan too far ahead for clothes. Babies don't all grow at the same rate. You may have a 6 month old in 3 month clothes, or 12 month clothes! My kids grew very slowly, but also not consistently. Best of luck, you'll do great!!

Oh Becca that is so awesome I now know your due date and also that you are having a girl I am super happy and excited for you to be getting a baby. I was 21 when I had my daughter and 26 when I had my son. My daughter was 32 when she had her daughter, my grand daughter, and 36 when she had her son, my grand son. I feel like being a parent and now a grand mother is such a blessing. I sewed a lot of clothes for my kids, and my daughter sews a lot of clothes for hers and it is a lot of fun. I also knitted a lot of things for my grand kids and that was a lot of fun. I was so sick my whole pregnancy. I ended up only gaining 14 pounds. I couldn't keep anything down. I tried it all. Ugh it was horrible. I'm a bigger lady so I guess that played in favor for the baby. I'm so happy for you guys! I still remember the joy of finding out. And she's almost 15! 🥰

This is wonderful! I love hearing about your perspective & experiences. It sounds like we’ve had similar pregnancies so far-I also had HG and it was wayyy harder to keep up with my plants during that time, so you’re not alone 😭. I hope everything continues to go smoothly!! I know people on the internet can sometimes be really negative about kids, but I’ve honestly found having children to be so delightful. Is it hard and different from life before kids? Of course. But my goodness, there’s truly nothing like watching them grow and learn and love and laugh-it brings a lot more joy to life, especially in the little things that you forgot the joy in as you became an adult: Christmas morning is magic again; you notice the all the ladybugs, butterflies, ants, and caterpillars because your toddler points them out with utter glee; you jump in puddles and remember how fun it is to get messy; and so on. It really is something special, something to be cherished. You guys are going to be such wonderful parents!

I can’t believe in the US you only get 12 weeks of maternity leave. Here in Canada a woman can take 12 or 18 months. Also, the father can take paternity leave. All the best Becca. You and Dan will figure it all out and do what works for you.

I am in no way telling you what to do, do you think a smaller button so the baby doesn’t have to lay on a big one? I adore the basket dress! And if you had to you could add a long sleeve top and a pair of stretchy pants if it gets colder. I ALMOST wish my two granddaughters were a little older and had babies of their own so I could make baby clothes again. ALMOST though, because they’re fun right now and I wouldn’t wish them growing up too fast. ❄️💚🙃
