@@MITONFILMS I went through this in 2003, felt like I was growing up and I'm driving a hatch lol, I was mid 20s, I went and sold my JDM EG hatch and bought a Mercedes. . Spent more money on that thing than I ever did my Honda and never had real fun with it. Regretted it for years. Bought a Integra after that but I crashed it and lost my license in the process. Long story short it took me 12 years to get my license back. I spent 12 years dreaming about going back in time and never selling that Hatch. @@MITONFILMS it's understandable, we all have our reasons I know I did at the time. I had a daughter and then got a better paying job. @MITONFILMS5 жыл бұрын
oh they can be if your smart about it!!
@HWandW5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes they can be; more often the collector cars that appreciate in value are exotic & rare. I think (just my opinion) that cars with manual transmissions will go up in value since they are hardly made anymore. But that’s a 20-30 year bet. Which, BTW, I’m taking.
@Sesamestreet90805 жыл бұрын
Miton Films no cars financially good things to keep. Even more if you mod it up. It’s better just to save up your money
@HWandW5 жыл бұрын
Sesamestreet9080 On an Integra, it is possible to put in a $400 turbo setup and then sell it for $800 more. But that money can only be gained from selling it. Also mods that increase the efficiency of a vehicle can be worth it; e.g. running an older diesel on veggie oil or using one of George Wiseman’s products from Eagle Research.

I love your passion for the car. I've been there..in your age...my '06 B15 Nissan Sentra SE-R...my first car...the best thing I did was store it and drive on with another car. I believe you'll be happier in the long run if you did manage to keep it....remember one day we'll be those old guys lamenting what we used to own and wish we still had. Keep pushing for your goals, we've all for the most part have been there, tired of modifying, etc...trust me the "next" ride that is as "complete' as you want...you'll still want to make it your own :)

Sad to hear but I think the problem with most projects is that they never enjoy it to keep it from losing interest. The motor swap and some decent brakes would’ve gotten you started in the track. The grind with trying to have a decked out setup takes a toll on you unless you have the cash flow. Hopefully you try to get it on the track for a session or two before really giving up on it.
@MITONFILMS5 жыл бұрын
The crazy part is its true. To build a car on the track for entertainment purposes is very difficult financially and mentally. With my limited funds im stuck in a rut by trying to produce content and build a decent car. I think I may do one more test and tune and time attack event to feel better about retiring it.

I feel as though you are going to be importing a genuine JDM DC2 RHD ITR? If you are able to sell your current swap, I would consider keeping the teg and installing a much cheaper engine such as a B20 or B18B and keep it OEM NA. You put a lot of time and effort into that car. I would keep it unless I were to receive a solid respectable offer for it. Keeping a motor OEM is always going to be more reliable long term and more cost efficient as long as you stay on top of basic maintenance. You would then be able to focus more on developing and honing your driving skill on a road course opposed to modifying a motor for more power output. If you blow up the motor no bid deal as B20's/B18B's are cheap. The most important thing the car would be reliable to drive wherever you want whenever you want. In the end do what makes you happy. Much props for tackling on automotive projects on your own without any real guidance just learning as you go. I do the same.
@MITONFILMS5 жыл бұрын
Road racing has always been about money, If you dont have it.......what's the point. The ultimate goal still is to go from nothing to something but this chassis is just not the one. Its old and costs too much to restore. Itd be much easier to start on something with less mileage. If the motor and trans dont sell. Ill keep it ,but this whole import thing will still happen no matter what.
@Johnman57575 жыл бұрын
You need one time attack event with this thing before it gets parted out. Climbed 3/4 of the mountain only to turn back. I understand though the desire to get your dream car. Do what makes you happy, the rest will come naturally.
@MITONFILMS5 жыл бұрын
To get to that 1 event id have to spend another $1k+ on tuning and tires etc. I may do one event who knows. Im just cutting the funding from the build for awhile until I make up my mind.
@Johnman57575 жыл бұрын
@@MITONFILMS Don't "need" tires to go. Built a nice engine and haven't tuned it on the dyno, it's a shame. I was looking forward to seeing the dyno/impressions after tuning. Then at least one track event to see how all the stuff you did to the car improved it. Whatever you do I will still watch.

This surprised me as it was completely out of the blue, especially with all the work you’ve been doing with it lately. However I do support your decision. You shouldn’t keep the car just because that’s what makes a lot of us here happy. Working on one car for a long time does eventually get boring. It’s a bit disappointing as it was a lot of hard work and time just for it to be parted out. Although the car is going away, you’ll keep all the things you’ve learned with you. Get the car you truly want and make content that you want. It’d be nice if the car was sold whole but not really the way to go if you’re looking to get as much money back as you can. In a couple years you’ll look back on the teggy and really appreciate what it was.

Bro thats the same thing with me. I sold my teg for almost the exact same reason. No shame in it but its time to move on and get something better is all. Its just alot of unnecessary spending on a car thats not fast and needs alot more money to be fast, not as comfortable, old, continuously broken parts. Shits not worth it at the end of the day

So you will buy a type R to do the same mods that you have on this car. Why not save some of the parts for the new car and sell what you don't need
