Frequency is directional proportional to no of pole/2. Frequency (seconds) is also directly proportional to rotation per second =>N/60. hence the formula f=NP/120.

because a pair poles (one North pole and one South pole) will generate one cycle (positive and negative parts). so N = 60f/(P/2) = 2*60f/P = 120f/P
