I left Japan back in 1981. It was my great escape and I have been living in the US since then. I traveled around the world like you. I completely agree with you that we are citizens of world, thus, we do not have to stay in Japan. If you speak English (I also speak Spanish) and have skills, I think you can make living anywhere in the world. I have a small law firm; I have had a great life. If I can relive my life again, I would probably choose my career in technology field. But, being a lawyer is not too bad either. I would someday visit you in Philippines.

I left Japan back in 1996 and now work for a tech law firm in the US. I'm a paralegal but am making more than I ever dreamed that I could in my life. So glad that I had the guts to get out of Japan then, not knowing what to expect in the US. I like Japan and don't like US politics at all, but I prefer to work in the US. Coming to the US is not for everyone, and I wouldn't say life is easier here, but if you're willing to work hard and not giving up, then this country may reward you in the way that Japan won't.
