4 colour comics when colored correctly, are so much clearer than most current digital colored comics. The limited pallet seems to be a positive somehow...

@@allhell138 It's kinda like vinyl records. It may be technically inferior but sometimes the imperfections can add so much. Some of the newer Marvel trade paperback collections will just look too clean, for instance. The linework will look too thin and the colors garishly bright. I'd like to see more collections using actual newsprint or at least the faux version Ed did on X-Men Grand Design.

Scott Williams taught me to ink (in part) back in 1994. You can see more of him using drybrush in his Punisher work over Whilce Portacio. Back when I was trying to break in, I met Rob Liefeld back in 1993. Rob told me at that time that this What If issue was his favorite job he did for Marvel...because of Scott's inks.

Tom Vincent colored Silver Surfer from 89-95, and side stuff like Thanos Quest. I believe he colored Fish Police reprints at Comico as well.

Marshall Rogers showed up at a local convention with some original Dr. Strange pages. The color holds, what they called surprints back then, were simply drawn on separate sheets of regular Bristol board. This was art from the early 80's, so maybe it changed later on, but it meant the production guys had to be on their toes for it to work. Also, Terry Austin's crowquill inks on those pages were so powerful and immaculate in the original. The lines seemed to sit on top of the page like embossing.

Ed's comment about Kirby drawing the Shield ship once 50 years ago and everyone copying it cracked me up. Any plans on a New Gods video, guys?

I still have that Jim Lee one (“Punisher War Journal) - think that’s when I became a fan!

What If...? Vol.2 was notorious for having the most downer of down endings, from mutilations, to dead kids so this story was a real gem, was action packed, and just a hell of a lot of fun.

Love this comic. So much fun. Generally, big fan of What If? Never fail to pick an issue from the 25 or 50 cents bin.

I saw Liefeld swipe at least one Frank Miller Wolvie & several Jim Lee's during the vid. Can't believe the didn't call 'em out. I was yelling at my phone, Miller! Lee!

Have we talked about that on the channel? Years ago, I hunted down a copy of that book at Heroes Con. On the ride to Charlotte, Ed talked about that issue. By the time we got the show, I needed to read it! Fun issue. - Jim Rugg
