Wow! What a cool application. I love how you give the simple recipe in the beginning, but in the end those simple commands result in such an awesome design.

11 seconds into this video my mind exploded with a million ideas of how you could apply this to get some fabulous results. Amazing, thank you so much, experimenting with this will be fun.

This is so cool! I love seeing my little alien dude in use :) Also...by animating the value for the translation, you could totally achieve a disappearing or dissolving effect! Thank you for this tutorial!

Top tier. Now make it work with a video and have the letters drop down and change to different ones with each line, make them katakana and colour them green and you've got yourself the matrix filter for anything you want.

You can use bounding box, instead of manually specifying image size, for position correction. Also, it should have default UVs, I think. So you can use those too.

So good!! Powerful simple setup with endless possibilities. You could even load in an animation as the "image texture" I guess, so it changes over time right? Thanks for this! Great as always!
@Khamurai2 жыл бұрын
Yeah you are correct it works with videos too, you just need to plug a Scene Time node (frame output) into the Frame input of the Image Texture node

Thank you! Thanks to this video, I realized that I don't want to deal with the geometry node and they are still a quiet horror compared to the shader node

Awesome technique! How do you suppose this might work in producing stylised animations using an already rendered animation? Or using 2 scenes and the compositor? Cheers :)
@Khamurai2 жыл бұрын
You can import videos too, then you can use a Scene Time node to make it play in the node tree (connect the Frame output to the Frame input in the Image Texture node)

EDIT: I'm a moron, I added the collection without the set position, vector (and fill curve tho it's not used for this). I mist have been tired or quite.. not sober when I started mucking around with that part. -------Original Comment------- I'm trying to use a collection of objects rather than the letters but for whatever reason, the objects don't move on the Z axis, they move either fully or 90% on the X axis and I can't figure out why. Is there a significant difference between using objects rather than the font? Or am I just dumb because it's probably just that
@Khamurai2 жыл бұрын
Sounds odd, have you applied rotation to everything?
@drumboarder12 жыл бұрын
@@Khamurai I did but it didn't fix the issue, just made them all face the same direction
@Khamurai2 жыл бұрын
@@drumboarder1 If everything is correctly connected the only way (that I know of) that increasing the Z offset can result in movement on the X axis is if the local Z axis of the geometry nodes object is aligned with the global X axis, i.e. rotated without rotation applied
@drumboarder12 жыл бұрын
@@Khamurai cheers for the help, I guess I'll try with some other objects or collections n see if it's just a general bug or what

I was wondering if I could use this with my Christmas Astronaut to fly through the "field" and have the letters "bounce" off her? Maybe like a proximity node*, whooshing the letters away as she swims like this? kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKCpaYJ_l5qgZ7c (just swimming through the ether... Physics now says there _is_ an ether!) Hey, you assumed the gender of her by choosing Pink as one of the colors. Oh NO! I assumed her gender too! Ty for the tutorial, interesting idea. __________________________________________________ *3.4, 3.5 sims don't render without crashing and none of the better GN'ists will teach me "the buffer method" so I can "do sims" in 3.4 because they claim that's a bug, and I say, it's a feature. If you know the bug I consider a feature (anyone!?) and have a link, I'd be most grateful too!
