Real glad I watched this one. I'm JUST getting into decoupage and image transfers and I had just watched another person use liquitex matte medium and thought "wtf is matte medium??? can I use the mod podge I just bought???" and apparently the answer is yes! This is so cool.

Loved his video because 1. you're a great presenter 2. the techniques are easy (with practice) and 3. the supplies don't cost a fortune. Yo're right, we mostly don't have to run out and buy new supplies--need to just look to see what we already have. Thank-you!

This is a great demo of how to do the same technique using what you have. I'm always trying to get the "perfect" supply and this video gives me confidence to use what I have. I have Gessos, Mod Podge and Acrylic already yet I had Matte Medium in my Amazon cart...now I want to try this before I buy.

@@CraftingMamas thank you for the tutorial. So my question is this. I have wood circles that I’d like to paint I’m with acrylic paint and transfer color laser images to. Will transfer gel medium work, and if so, do I seal the acrylic painted surface first? With what? You might have answered some of this, but I’m a horrible learner if I can’t stop the teacher and ask questions 😂.
@CraftingMamas3 жыл бұрын
@@joyelleforjesus IT should work fine using gel Medium. A clear varnish should work to seal it. You might chose a spray varnish to finish it this way you aren't brushing over your image. Test one that you aren't using as a final project. That is my beat suggestion. Happy creating!

HI Maria, I have done it with matte medium on muslin/ cotton fabric. But I would test it out on the fabric you are thinking of using. It works but you may need to put a sealer on top of the image after the transfer if you want it to be washable. Happy creating, Aloha, Shelley

Informative video, I had no idea gesso and acrylic paint could be used as well. Thanks for sharing! One question: I tried a magazine image on watercolor paper using gel medium. But after wetting it, and rubbing away the top layer, the bottom layer that we want on the paper keeps fading as it dries. Doesn't stay vibrant. Any idea how to fix that?
@CraftingMamas2 ай бұрын
Hi Truckart -Some images stay bright and others don't.( no idea why)The only way I have found to keep them more vibrant is using either a spray acrylic sealer or a gloss medium. You might want to experiment and see what works best for the result you are seeking. Thanks for watching.

hello i have a quick question. im trying to use this technique for my painting and was wondering if the transferred image could still be wet? i ask this because as much as i want the details of a photograph or an image transferred perfectly but also want to deface it afterwards while its still wet? if that makes sense? sorry for the bizarre question but really could use some help! anyways thank you for your video!
@CraftingMamas3 жыл бұрын
Hi Doug, The image and medium need to be dry before you can remove the paper. I am sure you can rewet the image after the transfer. I suggest you do some experiments and see if you can get the desired effect. Wishing you success ! Aloha, Shelley

If transferring a photograph , is the photograph printed on printer paper first? And if so , will an ink jet printer work or should image be printed on ink jet printer ?

Thank you for this video. Trying a photo transfer, first time, onto wood using clear Gesso. After letting it dry for about 20 hrs, I was unable to get all the paper off. Once dry it still was blotchy with white. If I used a bit more water then the photo was coming off in areas. Any suggestions? Thank you.

You can definitely keep removing the paper pulp with a spray bottle and water. You may want to use a clear acrylic sealer afterwards that will help with the cloudy residue. Happy Creating Shelley

I’ve never seen this before- it’s great! I’ve been Googling for more info, but “image transfer” is bringing up tons of decoupage-image-transfer results. Can you suggest any key words that would clear those out and find more of your type of transfer? Thanks! Your video is really inspiring!

Hi Tammy, Yes you can use any color paint. The contrast would be different. Give it a try and be patient. It can definitely make some cool back ground to any art journal page or mixed media piece. Happy creating, Shelley

It is possible transfer to Bible?
@CraftingMamas3 жыл бұрын
HI Magna, I have never tried. The only thing I would worry about is how thin most bible pages are thin. . They may not be able to handle it. . Experiment with dictionary pages. Or pages that are similar in thickness to the paper in your bible. Hope that helps. Happy creating.

The dog agrees with your theory 😂🤣😂. Thanks for sharing I've waited to do this process for so long as I feared I didn't have the correct supplies. I'm definitely interested in doing this process. Quick question. Are you just putting the transfer medium on the bottom page? The Mod Podge looks like you just added it to the bottom page but the next one you added it to both the front of the image and the bottom page. It didn’t seem to make a difference to the finished product but then again.... you are great at this. LOL
@CraftingMamas4 жыл бұрын
