I feel this statement, but one thing you have to consider is, what is a "hip hop sound?" Anything can be a hip-hop sound. It's all about how you play it, manipulate it, etc.

I'm not at all likely to grab a bunch of gear to sit under a tree at the park when I have a much better setup at home. And if I'm at a friend's, I'm hanging out with that friend. If I leave my house it's for very specific purposes like grocery shopping, or going to a movie, or going to work.
