Metro, If you like the workflow of the new FL studio, but you want it to sound like the old FL studio, what you have to do is go to the limiter and increase the gain by 5.5db. On the old versions of FL, the gain on the limiter was increased by default which gave it a harder hitting sound. Once you make this change to the templates, of the modern FL versions, it will sound the exact same. You can prove that it sounds the same, as when you export the same project from FL 20-21 and FL11-10 and then phase invert one of the exports, they will cancel out. This is assuming the gain on the limiter has been changed to be the same on both projects. Hope this was helpful, and yes older versions of FL sound different, but you can emulate that sound on newer versions with 100% accuracy.

2:06:41 bro just casually explained Kanye’s whole musical evolution from album to album in depth. When Metro says he’s a student of the game that’s 💯 Lotta gems in here, not so much technical but philosophical and how to approach production from the mental aspect. You can tell he really respects the process and loves making music 🎹
@79Glitch Жыл бұрын
Kanye’s whole evolution: starting with the second album, get Jon Brion to play, produce, engineer the songs. Then, get Mike Dean to do everything after that. Then, work with any young and talented producers and song writer, as well as a lot of legends. And get Mike Dean to do everything. If you ever make money, you could pay others to evolve your music as well.

Outstanding content. It doesn’t matter what genre you work in, to see a producer like Metro talk shop is so incredibly valuable. Gotta show love to these guys that are humble enough to do so. Also it’s wild (and I mean this respectfully-as obviously this man is far superior to me) but it’s wild to see it seems there are some technical things or things like music theory that I might have more of a grasp of then even he does. I mention this because it’s awesome to see things from a professionals perspective. Like if he isn’t focused on that shit, and he’s making things that sound 10* better than me, then if anything it might be limiting me. Example is him talking about digitally distorting stuff-man I don’t even think to do that. I’d use softclipper and drive it that way. I’ve been preached to that you don’t want to digitally clip. But shit, if metro gives that a go then I need to revisit that. (Also, I’m aware that according to FL I believe individual channel clipping isn’t true digital clipping if it’s limited on the master-but still)
