/ loisdavidsonart Welcome back, in this video I'm making the scene up as I go along, just using leftover paint on my palette and seeing what happens! I end up painting a seascape, but I could have just as easily turned it into a landscape. I hope you try painting like this sometimes, it can be quite liberating to experiment and see what happens as watercolour works its magic! If you like this, please think about joining my Patreon group to support my channel, and see several new videos every week, including early access to KZbin videos like this :-) / loisdavidsonart
Colours on my palette: prussian blue, indigo, raw and burnt sienna, burnt umber, paynes grey

This is exactly what I love in watercolor and I'm so grateful that I can teach how to do such a beautiful seascape or lakescape from you Lois. I painted this seascape in pastel tones also. I'll show the result in instagram. Thanks a lot for the lesson!

Hi Louis, such a serene scene, simple but so effective. Like the sea fret coming in on the tide. I would love to be that bird flying over the calm gentle beach. ☺️ Beautiful Louis 🖼

This was lovely! I’ve just discovered your work and really enjoy your loose style. Do you have a video or information somewhere on what colors you have on your full palette? I’m new to watercolor in the past year and am trying to set up my “permanent” palette of 15 or so colors. I’m live in northwestern Lower Michigan near Lake Michigan, and am interested in painting mostly landscapes and seascapes. Thank you! Karen

Karen Casebeer hi, many thanks 😊💐 I don’t have such a video, but here are my core colours: raw sienna, yellow ochre, lemon yellow, ultramarine blue, indigo, prussian blue, cerulean blue, light red, burnt sienna, alizarin crimson, paynes grey, burnt umber, perylene green and sepia. I also keep a tube of white gouache for highlights etc! I hope that helps 😊

Lovely painting Lois. Could you tell me about the paper you use please? It doesn't appear to be stretched yet doesn't seem to warp, what's the secret??
@LoisDavidsonArt
@LoisDavidsonArt 4 жыл бұрын
OLDGOLD hi, many thanks, I use Saunders Waterford 90lb hot or cold pressed paper, or sometimes Millford cold pressed 140lb paper. I don’t pre-stretch, I either tape the paper to the board on all 4 sides and even if it buckles while I’m painting, it will dry flat, or I clip the corners with bulldog clips and pull it flat and re-clip as the paper expands 😊💐
