Splenic Infarct || Ultrasound || Case 343

Clinical Features:
A 48-year-old female patient with chronic kidney disease came for a routine check-up.
Ultrasound Features:
- A focal irregular hypoechoic area is noted at the mid spleen along the lateral margin with internal thin, parallel echogenic lines forming the 'bright band sign'.
- Color Doppler shows no internal vascularity.
Remember:
- About 40% of patients with splenic infarction are asymptomatic.
- Patients may present with left upper quadrant pain or referred pain to the left shoulder.
