For those still wondering, RealD 3D is like the most basic 3D in a regular auditorium. IMAX on the other hand is a PLF (premium large format) so tickets cost more but the experience is also way better. Not all IMAXes are the same but even a basic IMAX (known as a LieMax) typically offers a far better experience in terms of audio, visuals and screen size. Your choice is really between a basic screening and a premium format like IMAX, Dolby Cinema or theater depending premium formats like Prime at AMC, RPX at Regal, etc..

Spot on! RealD 3D is def the more basic option, while IMAX totally amps it up with that huge screen and killer sound. It's all about how much you wanna spend and what kind of experience you're after. If you're going for something epic like a blockbuster movie, splurging on IMAX or another premium format can be totally worth it.

Thank you so much for this. AMC has like 6 different ways to watch one movie and it is always hard to decide. Been hooked to The prime/power whatever they call. It's even better than the laser imax imo

Totally get ya! Choosing the right format at AMC can be super confusing. I'm with you on the Prime/Power thing, it's pretty awesome. But hey, don't knock Laser IMAX till you've tried it a few more times. Each has its own vibe, right?

I don't know about you guys but now a days all movies feels 2D i don't know why.. I miss out the pop out screen effect ☹️

I totally get what you're saying! Seems like a lot of the newer 3D movies focus more on depth inside the screen rather than things popping out at you. I miss those old-school 3D effects too, they made everything feel so much more immersive. Hopefully, they bring back some of that magic in future films!
