We need way more cinemas like this. With TV screens getting bigger and bigger and even decent homecinema projectors on a budget we need thaters that are unmatched with anything possible at home.

Yes, theaters have way too many downsides compared to watching at home that there's simply no way I'm going to go to a theater unless they provide a truly amazing experience. No way I'm going to put up with people scrolling on their phones and possibly having a suboptimal seat etc. for a mediocre experience, when I can get something close enough in my own living room, at any time I want.

Been to this cinema for 20 movies this year already. Every screen is just great. Watched 5 movies in the IMAX (Oppenheimer 3 times, Avatar 1 and Avatar 2). Since I‘m wearing glasses 3D is usually a little weird for me but the 3D effect in the IMAX is so realistic that it tricked me in Avatar 1 a few times when I tried to wipe away some ashes flying around after the hometree was destroyed. I Have personally been lucky enough to see Avatar 2 and (the replay of) Avatar 1 in this state of the art cinema. The auditorium itself is indeed world-class. The only very unfortunate thing is that the English-language versions often run at unfortunate times like late Friday nights. By public transport, this is virtually impossible to do. But of course, Traumpalast itself can't do anything about that. But even if you have to see the German-language version because of this, I still highly recommend it!

It's such a shame that it's digital projectors and not a 70mm. Not saying the digital isn't high quality, but the film is the _highest_ quality. I'm sure sure it's easier and cheaper to run the digitals. I wonder what the driving factors in running that setup over a 70mm were, because at that scale, the film would have an even better image quality. I wonder if they couldn't push enough light? I was wondering why I didn't see this theater on the Oppenheimer list, but that makes sense now. You showed a clip of the London Sci Museum IMAX, that's a true 70mm projector.

What about 1.43:1 screenings - at this screen size, the 1.43 AR would be pretty much comparable to other venues such as BFI or Prague, but I believe they'll screen 1.90 versions only? Thanks for more details.

I live near the normal crappy LieMax in the US, but I think even these LieMax have something special, the IMAX speakers. They are designed so that no matter where you sit, you will get the full sound experience, something have to do with position tracking audio. It seems like this theater combined Dolby and IMAX into one, here in the US, most of the movie theaters have their own Dolby Theaters with Dolby Atmos, and the gimmick is that the seats can be inclined back, and there are transducers in the seats that makes you feel that the seat is shaking, and also better color contrast with the projector. Based on what you said in the video, seems like the seats will be shaking with the bass while the audience is watching the biggest IMAX screen in the world. I do wish this is what they do with all the theaters, I see no difference between the color contrast of a LieMax/IMAX and the Dolby Theaters, so why not just combine them.

Plus an advanced 4K laster projection system with a new optical engine and custom-designed lenses for brighter images, increased resolution and deeper contrast. The new cinema is set to rival others around the world including those from New York, Cannes, and Tokyo.

Sydney used to be the biggest but they've been renovating since 2016. Not sure when that's going to be ready but maybe their screen will be even bigger than before
@jjperceval Жыл бұрын
it wont. itll be the 3rd largest, so smaller than melbourne
@mohammedfaiisal Жыл бұрын
@@jjperceval leonberg isn't even true imax. There's an imax in St Louis Missouri that's overall bigger than this leonberg imax but idk why this one is considered the largest
@toastymaster4445 Жыл бұрын
@@mohammedfaiisalIt is the largest, if you calculate it as follows : total screen area = width (124 ft) x height (68 ft) = 840 square meters (9041 square feet). Other IMAX locations may have a taller screen, but the total image area will be smaller. The one in St. Louis is also Omnimax, and therefore doesn’t really count as a “standard” IMAX screen.

Amazing work Sir. Your hardwork is much appreciated. We cannot afford to visit here but your video was just like IMAX - "Why just watch a movie, be a part of One"

Thanks a lot! It's important to say thanks to Science Museum, this video wouldn't be possible without them.

I watched Oppenheimer there. Soon we'll watch Dune Part 2, and all I can say is that I'm excited!! Being there is an experience, rather than just watching. Plus all the things it offers to you extra is crazy good. I'm lucky to live in southern Germany for that 😀

The Uni in Stuttgart would be a nice place to visit...they have a museum there with the only known working LGP-30 computer.

Also I was wondering if you know how much it cost to make the largest IMAX theatre including everything it has?
@boredtech Жыл бұрын
Sorry, but I have no idea.

I believe it was about 20 million euros to build the building including everything there is to it
@anothersimracer Жыл бұрын
Wow, that's an amazing amount of money. Thanks for letting me know 👍
