I found myself impressed by Sienna Miller's performance so far in the film. She didn't do a ton yet but her face acting was so great and she really added to the overall pristine aesthetic of the film. It's a unique movie and I have a feeling that if people have an open mind, give it a chance and wait for the other chapters to help the story take shape, we will all be pleasantly surprised. Go see it, spend your $20 and support the project so that the next parts will be completed. Seems like a worthy cause.

Kevin did not just to shoot in spectacular, real locations; he even curated them (transplanted fully gown trees) to make a shot great from good! All to give us audiences a memorable cinematic experience! I hope and pray that the audiences come to see his vision and passion and what actually went into creating this masterpiece. Respect, Kevin, nothing but 🙌!

HORIZON is a terrific movie. You do have to pay attention, unlike the comic book movies so popular today and the 4th and 5th rehash plot lines of the endless sequels. Those who have never read a book will have trouble with the non-linear structure.

This comment is spot on. Advertised as part of a larger story, this movie requires patience and some willingness to work on the part of the viewer. I find myself very willing to work with this "long-form" approach to storytelling.

A cast with how many American actors? In a series called American Saga? Love the Brits and they are my ancestors, but seriously?

It's American history. It's almost like a documentary. I do think Kevin Costner is a great director and the acting is great but it doesn't flow like a story. It jumps around too much. It should have been a series. Maybe it will get better in the second chapter. My husband can't wait for the second chapter.

A TV series would have limited it to the small screen for starters. He wanted to tell a long story, take time to build characters, add a lot of story lines, not have to do injustice to the script (he spent 30 years writing) on the editing table and more importantly give the audience the experience of great Western and great cinematography on the big screen. I get his passion, although agree that his vision of four 3-hour movie series is new, radical and risky. Having said that, a similar concept has already been introduced in Indian cinema recently. I am a big fan of Kevin and Westerns and thoroughly enjoyed the first part. It was like 'reading' a visual book. If there are audio books, why not a visual book. As for being like a documentary, it IS fictional at the end of the day. Kevin has created the story lines in his head. For me, someone who enjoyed reading the novel Roots: The Saga of an American Family by Alex Haley. I would love to have seen the same treatment of the book for movie lovers. There are just so many little pieces that go into making up the big picture and a lot of reel time is needed to get it all in and get it right. It would be a shame if Kevin's experiment is shot down.

He was telling a story of all that was happening in that area at the time. He was very fair re the Indians, for example. It was huge. How could he have split up all of the entities? As it was, the Civil War was also happening. Fortunately, he just filmed the soldiers leaving.
