I used to work at an escape room. This guy called a month before Black Friday asking to make a booking thanksgiving night at around 10 pm so their kids can play while the adults can shop. First problem was we were not going to open thanksgiving night because the mall didn’t require us to since we are entertainment and not retail. He maid a big complaint to cooperate which forced us to bring in staff thanksgiving night. Second, he informed him there needs to be an adult in the room since the kids are minors. We aren’t babysitters. He once again made a big complaint but lost this time. Thanksgiving night, we opened and had staff come in since cooperate made us open all the rooms just because we were open for one person. The guy came in with the kids, looked at the room and wanted to speak to the manager (which was me at the time). I was not scheduled that night because i was going to do a 12-10 the next day, and i was working part time at underarmor. I was forced to take my break early to speak to him and he wanted a refund due to the room not being what he imagined. I explained we have a no cancellation no refund policy which i told him before booking and he signed off. He started to scream at me and saying all the Karen phrases. Finally i passed him off to my district manager but he wanted my full name before that. I gave him my first name and said i don’t have to give him my last. He argued saying yes he does and that he deserves to know since he was a customer and wants to know exactly who to complain to. I told him no and he said fine. Mind you i was 19 at the time and I would like to say I handled it well.
