All it tells me is where you are probably from geographically or were some of your roots are. Not seeing color for me is just accepting it and judging every person by how they act not look.

People keep confusing individual racism with institutional racism. You can look at the definition of racism, nowhere does it say that you have to be in a position of power to be racist, it only says that that’s how it usually is. Anyone can be racist towards any other race

She’s right about “black culture” and “white culture”. I am Afro-Brit, my culture is completely different than a black American’s culture, yet we are still all black. So “black culture” doesn’t exist in the same way “white culture” doesn’t exist.
@chino6559
@chino6559 3 жыл бұрын
Yes but they also mentioned Europeans too (Irish culture, Italian culture) as cultures in America as opposed to “white culture”. The exact same can be applied to “black culture”, descendants of black enslaved people are not the only black Americans in America. Dontai agreed with something along the lines that black people can all relate to each other because of being black at about 2:10. This is just not true... whether you focus on the entire world or just America, or even the UK. There are different cultures among black people in America. When I speak to a black American who has roots in the African country I was born in, they relate to me more... a black person not from America than the typical “descendant of enslaved people in America” black American... yet, they’re both black Americans. The exact same arguments about white culture can be made about black culture both within the USA and beyond. Lastly, a phrase like “x culture” pretty much automatically includes all people of that race, Jubilee acknowledged this by specifying “white Americans” at the start... an important distinction to be made. The participants started to acknowledge “white cultures” beyond America that exist in America as arguments but failed to do so for “black cultures” too... and that is where the issue lies

But, personally, I don’t see it as culture. And our difference in opinion might be down to how we define culture. Maybe you consider experiences as a part of culture. On the focusing on race part I agree with Dontai and in all honesty instead of “I don’t see colour” it should be more along the lines of “I won’t judge you from your colour” cuz I mean I definitely see colour but I sure won’t be racist to any other colour or race, like we all just humans.

Even when my friends say I can say the N word, I don’t want to because my race has used it for a different meaning. I don’t want to say it because I feel I am not allowed, which I’m not. My friends and their race have earned their right to say it. If they say they’re cool with it and say they don’t care I am very hesitant because I don’t want to because it feels wrong deep inside of me. If I do say it, I don’t want it to come out as the hatred it was once used for, but more for the reason that my friends, who have gone through the struggles, can allow me to say it, because they know I won’t ever use the word in hatred....but for probably just a bar, on a lil baby song. There is no need to take it away from the songs. They have earned their right to say it.

Your friends are ignorant self haters, don't fall into their trap, they may like you for it but it's only because internally they like to be disrespected. The large majority of blacks will see you as a racist. Wish more white people thought like you though.

I'm a female of beautiful melanin, and I don't identify with others just because we're of the same pigment. Your struggle is not always my struggle. A black male has a struggle that a black female doesn't have. Unfortunately, just because you're my "sista" or "brotha" doesn't make you my sister or brother. Blacks have been quicker to down me or other blacks than whites have.
