I'd like Esam's analysis a lot more if he put less emphasis on "Well this person won because their opponent didn't know how to fight them properly". It undersells the difficulty of clean play in a tourney, which is weird considering that Esam is a person who can win tournaments against the best in the world but who also regularly falls outside top 8 due to inconsistent play.

I mean he literally prefaces that statement at the start with "not to take anything away from him". Bid D could've been playing out of his mind and people don't know the match up. Both are true. Esam repeats that statement too later in the video as well

@@tannorsoeder3774 no it isn't. They lost because because of outplays. Esam consistently overbiases on mistakes despite mistakes being present in every game with every player--both winner and loser. Unless the loser is spaghetti, the winner's strategies are more important, because they're both what create and exploit these mistakes. Esam even does this sort of thing when he analyzes Leo's sets too. Again, it creates a weird situation where the skill of the winner is de-emphasized, despite it being the most important thing influencing the outcome of each game.

I reckon he's not so much trying to judge the quality of the performance from either player as he is trying to point out the concrete mechanics by which the game was won or lost. I.e. I think Esam just isn't focusing as much on the human-tournament-viability perspective. Or maybe he thinks aegis vs ICs is 90-10 entirely realistically entirely within human ability. He was arguing that Cosmos just didn't know certain key things about the matchup.

I hate to break it to you esam, but doing funny little combos in training mode does not make you an ICs main. Well many of the things you say in this video are true, you also spread a lot of miss information as well. For example, take your advice on how cosmos should deal with ICs side B, it’s just straight up wrong. Mythra is safe to popo punish if you cross up but only if popo doesn’t parry, doesn’t shield with both ice climbers, doesn’t side b with nanna, doesn’t up tilt with nanna, and even if this does happen you will still lose center stage in most cases. Dash attack if you know for sure you can true punish and if that isn’t possible take space, don’t try to do anything else.

As an Aegis co-main (with Roy), I will say that I definitely would've gotten destroyed, but Cosmos really did not do well with separating the climbers. You pointed out a ton of it yourself, so I won't repeat. The only thing I will add is that I do think Cosmos should've used Mythra's nair much more as it's one of the best options to separate Climbers

I don't care if people weren't playing perfectly against Ice Climbers getting top 2 at a MAJOR is STILL insane (and keep in mind that Big D still has to fight top players in the entire world to get to that placing btw) & makes me think the character just can't justifiably be low tier anymore.
