I, like many grew up in a hetero home, first with my dad and mom, then my mom and her second husband. There was so much dysfunction, especially in my mothers second marriage, we went through embarrassing hell. So much embarrassing hell my mother still lives in denial of the reality of it over thirty years later.

Thank you, Joe. As a counselor, I understand and agree with what you are saying. The dysfunction we see in the family unit has little or nothing to do with gender, but everything to do with the lack of love. And as we are discovering in the world today, love has nothing to do with genitalia.

It's very apparent in these videos where children of gay parents are speaking, that as a whole, they're generally all very well spoken and have no problem holding a timbre in their voice that's impossible not to respect. Very admirable and such an awesome testament to the fact that gay parents are amazing parents!

4 years ago one I was told that one of my neighbours referred to me as her "gaybor". If she'd been a friend of mine I might have found it cute, but she was a horrible cow and it was not intended to be nice. Her language was also quite telling. Our lane was very bumpy, so I was driving up to my house at a low speed, not really noticing that she was behind me. She couldn't wait to tell me that she'd seen me when I was "pooftling" up the lane. She meant pootling. In the UK a poof is a derogatory term for a gay man. Horrible bitch. That was four years ago, but still very recent. Why are these people still among us? What exactly is their problem with LGBT people?

Gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender people are capable of being great parents just like straight parents. Sometimes they're better parents than straight parents. I'm bisexual and proud.

Ha ha this reminded me on a conversation I had when I was in kindergarden one of the woman who worked there asked me who is going to pick me up today and I said my mom. An hour later one of my moms came and she said I don't think this is your mom I know your real mom. And I said this IS my mom! And I was very upset why she treated her like this an it made me angry. After this she did not ask again and accepted it. And there was a conversation I had with my biological dad (I was drawing a close family friend who was gay dancing with his partner) and he said why are you drawing two men that are dancing would'nt it be normal if you draw a man and a woman? And I said no they love each other- why should I draw a woman with him when he doesn't love her. He was confused and tried to explain to me that a "normal" relationship was between an man and a woman. And I said no- it is all about who you love and boys can love boys and girls can love girls. Why should I draw something that I didn't want to draw? He was just confused about my words and didn't say anything... but after all this years he kept my painting and he says he likes it :) Sry for my english not a native speaker!

I believe all should be their authentic selves like getting married, having kids then raise them to be proud of the family dynamic in a nice safe neighborhood. However, it's a red flag when one parent already has kids from previous relationship that are from a more traditional mom/dad (male/female) dynamic in a traditional suburbia environment. Basically, no matter how much love, it's unfair to thrust them into the into this while now in the same neighborhood, schools then expect the kids to be ok with it and then have to face the questions, bullying and bs on their own as most bs happen when no adults are around. It's too much as already hard for kids but to have a lost a parent but now have to explain that or attempt to even understand it or have neighbors have their kids now avoid them when the most impt is the kid's emotional state. That is our job as parents. Not sure it's wise for anyone to move in a lover just months after a husband/wife passes and then have your kid try to grieve but instead bombarded with emotions of mourning then hard work of attempting to adjust. Parents should be with who they love but they must be patient and wait til right time for the kids and when the kids are able to understand , work through it and cope then finally accept and want to be part of the new dynamic.
