I have two aunts, but I'm only related to one, the other is her partner. I spent A LOT of time with them growing up. I didn't realize until I was about 18 or 19 that they were lesbians. It struck me like a thunderbolt to the head. Being Pansexual myself, it didn't bother me. I was just surprised I didn't notice it earlier. The point is I never questioned it, to me they were my aunts and since no one made a point of it and they didn't really say anything about it, I just automatically thought it normal. Which leads me to this: Same sex parents can be seen as normal by their children. Sure, there might eventually be questions, but it's not all that different from any other question. I think it's outside influences, example that nurse, or perhaps some priest or just someone who's homophobic, that make it not normal. They want it not to be normal because they're too ignorant to accept people for, well, being people.

The nurse believed their homosexuality made them a risk to a young male child (I sincerely doubt she was saying to other mothers, 'watch your husband around your baby daughter. He might molest her'.) That is homophobic, and it could have lost them their child. There are no higher rates of paedophilia amongst homosexual men compared to straight men. That nurse should be ashamed. A mature and stable couple wants to give a child a new life. It's a beautiful thing. Sorry, Sean, but all the modern research studies show absolutely NO negative effects upon children from same sex parents. You can Google that and see the numbers. Just as the recent Marriage Equality Act demonstrated: Love is Love. It's the love between the parents that is important on the lives of the children, not the genitalia. I can back that up with my 30 years of teaching over 7000 children. As far as bullying goes, we now have federal laws on the books to put an end to that nonsense. Society matures and gets educated eventually. Children are not born homophobic, adults teach that to them. As we as a society become more mature and more educated, homophobia will die a natural death. Education is the answer.
@seanm1234519 жыл бұрын
first of all, I don't know where you get your "modern" research because it is completely wrong because statistics actually do show that there are more psychological problems in kids who were raised by same sex parents as opposed to heterosexual parents. Secondly, I don't care what research you bring forth. It is a known fact that the kid will definitely live a tougher life and definitely have some sort of psychological issue that a normal child wouldn't have. You are right, children are not born homophobic but adults don't teach that either. It is part of human nature. Human nature tells us that men and women belong together and when something goes against our natural instincts we are definitely going to raise an eyebrow. Get it? It is natural and it is just unfortunate for the LGBT community that they are greatly outnumbered. That would be nice if homosexuality is accepted some day but in reality it will probably never be looked at as normal. You can't disprove science. Science of humans=reproduction. Gay=no reproduction

Daniel Newman 1-i think youl find that in the case of HIV/aids the higher percent in in straight couples. its just homosexuals made it "famous" when they couldnt seek medical treatment without being ostracized before people realized how stupid they were for ostracizing. as to any other std, if you dont wear a condom ofc your at a higher risk of catching an std. and homosexuals arent the only ones to have anal sex. 2. i dont see the relevance at all. even for a straight person you may like someone and theres no guarantee they will return the feelings. and with all the ways to meet people these days its pretty much certain if ur after a relationship youl find someone. how many dating sites, singles bars, "blind" or "speed" dating events are there now? 3. and for straight couples who cant conceive, they also have alternatives. i think you yourself have pretty much debunked your own point. 4. youl need to elaborate here. as far as im aware love is love. as mentioned above straight couples also practice anal, and a relationship isnt all about sex. in saying that- given the way the human male is structured, the shaft of the penis goes through the inside of the body in such a way that if something was inserted in the anus it would be akin to a form of mutual masturbation. so im failing to see your point at all here. 5.ill give you the benefit of assuming that was a joke :p ------------- my challenge stands, and the prize remains. a single un-refuted non religious argument against homosexuality. my next question to you then, because of your first statement- is something moral because god says so, or does god say so because its moral?
