Just wanted to mention, my wife and I bought your work book and so far it has been very helpful. There's a number of similar youtube channels but most I found felt more like advertisements for their books/videos/seminars, giving very little actual useful information in each video, but we appreciated how much information you just give away on your channel and focus on actual advise over "here's a problem, for the solution buy my book", and made us feel good about supporting you.

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, experience and guidance. I’m a parent who bought the autism workbook and it’s the only clear resource I found to make a change in my son. I’m really thankful for Ms. Laura for helping out people like us all over the world.

VIDEO NOTES - Key Focus areas (Piece No. 6) - How children with Autism learn to imitate Things that affect or needs to be done for a child on the Spectrum gaining Speech Imitation (if the child runs away) - work on social games to make connections Oral Motor (if the child is trying but needs help) - play to get the gross motor activities and some social things LEVELS OF IMITATIONS We can’t start with (Words) just yet because they come in at number 7 - So they need to learn the other parts to help them gain speech 1) Imitation of Action with Objects - (show child how to do task) 2) Imitation of body movements (Gross motor) first then then move towards (Fine motor - Speech) 3) Non-verbal actions no sound as yet (motor movements like blowing, smacking lips or wigging tongue etc...) 4) Developing sounds ( screaming, panting like a dog 5) Exclamatory Words (Oh, Oh; Wee, Oh boy, Whoa! etc... say these words with play) 6) Automatic Speech and Verbal Routines - You say words like: (Ready set (blank) or 1, 2, (blank) - have them trying fill in the words Routine, familiar and predictable words 7) Functional Words - (imitation and then trying to say words like: Mama, ball, milk, baba etc..) 8) Combining words to get short phrases Mastery Level - think of 8 or 10 examples of things the child can do most all the time to see if the child has mastered them Emerging Level - Example would be the child lowest or simplest starting points and work towards the goals “For language learning to be efficient words have be pretty quickly and consistent” *** Look to see where the child is in their routines and preferences to do more play through imitation

Laura!!!! I am so grateful for EVERYTHING that you share with us! As an SLPA I am just plain HOOKED on your website and channel! I have a question about ASD with tremors and eye twitching. Is this something that is common? Would that be considered dyspraxia? Thank you again for your passionate approach to treating these adorable little peanuts! You inspire me to be the best clinician that I can be!

Great video! I would love to hear your thoughts on how the pandemic may be impacting our little ones? Especially for those that had little to no contact with others (especially around their age).. thank you!!!!

Wonderful segment. Thank you. My autistic grandson (5 years in 2 months) will often fill in "go" when prompted "Ready, set . . . " . He's also spontaneously said "car" when seeing one but doesn't do so consistently. He vocalizes often in sounds (eeeeeeeee, humming, siren-like sound, consonants on occasion). He often will look at me and smile when I mimic the sound he is making (though may become annoyed if I engage for too long). Is mimicking him beneficial? Is there a way that it can lead to more verbal connection (such as a way to turn it around to him trying to mimic me?)
