The idea of having big megastructures late game for processing items efficiently is so smart from performance perspective! More factory games could try cribbing from this idea!
@conorstewart22146 ай бұрын
Yeah I never thought about it from that perspective, it would be require much less calculations than running hundreds or thousands of smaller machines. When I saw the large modular machines it reminded me of some minecraft mods, mainly the large reactor ones.

@@makeandbreakgames1791 well, even at megabase level, UPS becomes a resource, meaning if they added a plate smelter that could run an entire belt through, at the cost of more power and byproducts for example, it would drastically cut down machine counts tooo

@@makeandbreakgames1791 Optimisation is definitely good if you have the dev resources for it. But even with Factorio in the upcoming Space Age we are seeing some more focus on fewer machines producing more with the Quality factor and the bigger machines introduced on each planet to the point the end game numbers are now blowing the vanilla ones out of the water in terms of SPM, at least according to the dev logs.

This actually looks really good, especially for early access. It seems to go into a lot of detail about the processes and the very large buildings are something that you don’t see much in other games, sure satisfactory has a few large buildings and the space elevator but nothing like this really with the blast furnace and air towers. It will be interesting to see how it eventually ends up.

lol I had a comment on deck at the 5hr mark like "brother, the elevators dig the holes for you", but you figured it out. Played a bit on itch and a bit now that it's on steam, think it's great. I've been giving it and Techtonica time to just grow a bit before really diving in. Sort of biding my time and not trying to burn out on factory games until Satisfactory hits 1.0. Soon™
@calebstripling14896 ай бұрын
I sincerely hope that when Foundry gets a Full release that you’ll make a proper play through series out of it. This game certainly looks like it’ll be fun to play, so I might pick it up myself. Anyways, you did an amazing job with this video!

I have to be honest that I like that this game takes a lot more inspiration FUNCTIONALLY from Factorio. One thing if always hated in Satisfactory was having to work out belt routing to balance out the belts with splitters and mergers to insert directly into the building. This game takes the Factorio approach and just says “okay yeah just have it yoink something off the belt and the rest keeps going.” Way more compact, way less brain work, and so I can spend more time on expanding and less time summoning Cthulhu with belts.

Using item elevators is a throughput loss. Instead of using that 3x3 space for them, use spiraling belts in a 2x4 space. Takes up a few more cubes and a little more effort, but the throughput is unmatched.
