About: Satisfactory
Satisfactory is a first-person open-world factory building game with a dash of exploration and combat. The limited SAM ore production is only per restart of the game, which is an unusual game mechanic, and honestly suggests simply that they wanted an easy way to limit players collecting huge stockpiles of an item that currently has no use.

S.A.M. might also be short for "Stabilized Anti Matter" basically antimatter in a stabilizing matrix that makes it much safer to handle. you refine it to make antimatter to be used for power generation.

there is another ore that is not in the game yet, called D.E.A.N. ore . The S.A.M. ore and D.E.A.N ore are smelted into an alloy call Winchestore. This new alloy will be used to make better weapons to help defend against the monsters.

My assumption was that it was to keep you from amassing a massive stockpile of the stuff before it had a purpose... which might ruin the game once it's implemented and you can just "blow through" whatever tiers and such it's used for. Can you just imagine all the players who have set up "refining" points for the stuff already and are just awaiting the update that gives it a purpose in order to activate their machines and wait for them to process the material? I mean... it's not like I did that... or anything... Using smelters... or constructers.... and everything else. It's not like I"m sitting around with a huge crate full of the ore or something and no purpose for it yet. I mean, there's no way players would do something like that just to "rush" all the new content when it comes out.

I think the developer's comments about late game problems suggest that it's teleportation, as I imagine that not having to have conveyor belts and just putting a teleporter pod on each of the outputs and inputs would be much easier, but I think the in-game text of "glistens with possibilities" suggest it being used for cloning, as if the ore can be reconfigured to be anything.

I think you're on the right track with teleportation, but I was thinking something more along the lines of wireless power. Unlike belts, there's not really any challenge to setting up power cables--you just need enough of them. So maybe it could be used for some kind of "quantum power pole," where everything in a radius around it (including other quantum poles) is automatically connected to power. Maybe there's even several tiers with varying radii, and each is more expensive than the last

Going back to the alpha, before the cheat buildings, here's what has been considered: Mass Storage (probably connected to the pocket dimension) Raw resource converter (example; input 2 iron ore, output 1 caterium ore) Sam ore might be required to build these - hence you can't spam them around the world.

The reason probably why u have to reset your session to collect more is that they don't want you to accumulate this resource before it has usage. There was also theory on the Satiswiki about this for having dimensional storage so you could take anything from it if you build another ones etc but nice job with the last theory mate :D you got me rly laughing :D

I could imagine SAM metals being needed for a teleportation device that allows you to teleport items across the map in an instant, easing the burden on logistics. Probably needs a crapton of power to do so, like, a disproportionate amount. "But why make other transportation obsolete?" Trains made long-distance conveyors obsolete and drones made train-difficulties in rough terrain obsolete. Teleportation can make both obsolete in the long-distance department. The energy use and limited nature could offset that advantage, making teleportation useful but not omnipresent. "Power isn't finite!" It sort of is. Since we can only mine a certain amount of ressources max, there is a limit to power-generation. Now, people who build systems large enough to mine that much stuff also need infrastructure that consumes a lot of power in turn, which are usually those with mega-factories. Their consumption sort of matches their production. With high-energy buildings like the particle accelerator coming in, it means enormously high energy consumption would make teleportation a concern for these players as well. In turn, casual players would be faced with a large logistical challenge to overcome, not trivializing their game. They can but don't have to use SAM buildings.

As to the teleporter theory, the Quantum Oscillator you hovered over for a drop pod last video did saw it was used for teleportation; so SAM ingots could be used to make Quantum Oscillators that then would allow teleporter boxes or something, or personal teleporters, or even both.

5:30 there is a mod for Minecraft that did this. Ender chests could be made with Ender pearls and they had a 3 color combination. Chests with the same combination would open to the same pocket dimension allowing you access to the same contents in different places. You could hook machines up to it to effectively teleport items into your production systems.

On this one item of S.A.M ore. If you put a bunch of portable miners on a node you can get a lot more out of it. I hit the one below the arch and the one over near the blue forest and currently have 2 double containers full of it. I didn't gather more since it is of no use , yet!

I legit thought it was a bug when I couldn't mine it. Would be a cool feature if it can be used for more than just a teleporter. Like a fabricator that can make items instantly, faster transport that doesn't use fuel, a power source, or can be weaponized.

I belive it is used for an item teleporter... A looong time ago i got a "cheated" save, which added ALL items that existed at that point... It had quantum bins or so which had ONE slot, but had a direkt connection to your inventory. Also it had a Cern style miniature particle accelerator...

Item teleportation would be great but not only for the pocket. Also if you want to transport an item from b to c you don't need a train/car anymore.

I would love to get a Mass-Item-Transporter. Like it has a huge Storage you fill up at place A and than you also have to feed Teleportation-fuel into the machine. When it reachs a value of fuel, all items in the Storeage gets teleported to B. Transport massiv item numbers from A to B with high costs. That would put the programable splitters into realy good use after all.

I think it will be something related to the artifacts wop for alien supertech but no real use right now I really like the Idea of some material request side mission with the Space elevator wich would grant ficsit tickets as we can crush things to get science points then buy tickets with science but from where would come the materials we buy with the points ?

sam ore looks like obsidian, and together with mercer spheres etc you can build portals to the netherworld. minecraft confirmed.

On the wiki, there’s all the SAM ore and tier 8-9 stuff. In the super early alpha there was item teleporters with the Sam ore, that’s probably changed by now though...

go to the offical wiki, it has the items and use of S.A.M one of which is a "powered wall" which eliminates the need for power lines within your factory, rifle mk2, heat resistant suit, remote storage, smelter mk2, foundry mk2, pipeline mk2, basically all the production buildings mk2

Quantum storage bin. The outputs are wormholes powered by SAM ore, and warp items to a factory eliminating the need for long logistics lines, drones, or trains.

i belive it is just limited for the reasen that you shold not have 1000 on bins with it when it get a use and when it has a funktion it will be like anny ore in speed and not stop after 50. it is likly it will be used in the last tiers in some way. like to win for the game need a end of some kind.

5:22 I don't think that it will be used for a item teleport to the pocket dimension because in a recent Coffee Stain Vlog the said they had one of those originally, but it was removed pretty early on due to multiplayer issues.

I suspect they have no idea what SAM ore does. The devs release super vague teasers all the time and encourage the community to guess, then they probably look through the guesses and pick one they like. (just like they did with the coupons)

Two of the crashed pods that we can't open yet requires "superposition oscillator" and "quantum computer" to open. In quantum physics - superposition translates to things being at two positions at the same time. I think this sounds like either cloning or teleportation.

Maybe it's used in a satellite dish used to contact the race that put the S.A.M there waiting to find and teach others of new stuff leading to near infinite possibilities (and power)
