@@ingenierocivilenlinea2316 Absolutely. I initially came to Canada on a spousal open work visa as my partner was in Canada on a study visa while attending graduate school at SFU. He then graduated and transitioned to a postgraduate work permit (pgwp). When I went to renew I thought I could simply renew my open work permit directly. I needed to apply as the secondary applicant on my spouse's pgwp instead and he would be the primary applicant. Neha's instructions were helpful in completing the form so that I could reapply for a spousal open work permit on my partner's pgwp. Let me know if any of this is unclear as it was quite the journey.

Also, the pgwp approval, is it imm577 that says it has been approved that will be used or I should wait for the hardcopy to come? Thanks

You can use your account to extend your spouse's work permit. No need to create a new one. I did it this way before and it got approved. Now, for your PGWP, no need to wait for the hard copy, if you got the acknowledgement from them, you are good to go back to work.

Hello, Thank you for the detailed explanation. I have one question. If you are on sowp and your spouse is on a full-time study permit. When and how should you renew your sowp? Like, will it be automatically renewed once your spose extend their study permit. Or can i only apply for an extension if my spouse has a study permit extended? So first, my spouse gets a study permit extended, and then i apply for my sowp extensions?

I wonder if an SOWP holder is allowed to work before the Study Permit holder starts the course. I'm asking because my spouse started working a few weeks before I started my course. In case of student visa extension and Sowp extension together I don’t think it’s necessary to have a job for the spouse. You can apply for extension.
