How to extend open work permit of spouse of post graduation work permit holder 🤔

Hello Friends,
Disclaimer: I am not a regulated immigration consultant, I am just sharing my personal experiences which, I gained through applying my application for Canada. I came in Canada in 2016 as an international student, after that I applied my husband's open work-permit and my son's visitor visa. I also applied visitor visa for my other family members too. After, graduating I applied my PGWP and my husband's open work permit. Eventually after one year, I applied PR for our family and also, got approved. I uploaded this video to help others by sharing my experiences and knowledge. If you need help for your application, I would highly recommend you to consultant a regulated immigration consultant in Canada.

I can answer this... but not I am not an immigration consultant but answering based on my experience and what my consultant explained ... Case 1: If your spouse applied for visa extension before the old work permit expired, He/She can work on the applied status. Yeahhh...😄 Case 2: If your spouse applied for visa extension after the old work permit expired or during the grass period of 90 days, He/She can NOT work. sad😒... but this is the rule. Hope this help!

Thanks for your experience sharing, It's so useful. But I still have a question: If pgwp holder has a job in NOC O, A or B but it's just a Park Time job, Is the spouse eligible to apply an open WP? I have checked the website which you shared, but it does not mention this point: "Spouses or common-law partners of open work permit holders If the principal foreign worker is the holder of an open work permit (for example, a post-graduation work permit or a working holiday work permit), IRCC cannot assess the skill level based only on the open work permit, and the spouse or common-law partner applying for the C41 exemption will need to attach proof that the principal worker is employed in an occupation in skill type 0 or skill level A or B. The spousal applicant should submit all the supporting documents, including: - a letter from the principal foreign worker’s current employer confirming employment or a copy of their employment offer or contract; and - a copy of the principal foreign worker’s last 3 pay slips."

Hi there, basically if main applicant doesn’t get a job in these NOC codes, then spouse can’t apply. Check cic.gc.ca for more clarification. For another question, you need some professional help but, I don’t think you can work without this authorization.

Chowdhry Rahman PGWP is a life time opportunity, if you already got it earlier then you will not get it again. Otherwise, it seems okay. You may get all these visas.

This is not always applicable that we have 3 months grace period in study permit. Sometimes study permit is expiring in 1 day or 10 days after just studies is completed. So how can we extend work permit for spouse in such short time. We have to go to restoration status ?

Harsh Patel These are the conditions to get the visa extended and required by IRCC. If you do not meet those then obviously, you are not eligible.

If you dont have enough time left you can apply for visitor visa for your spouse. After that you will get aa plenty of time.
