well-timed is an understatement. These ladies were comedic geniuses. The writers of the show said that if these women couldn't get a laugh with their jokes, then it simply wasn't a good joke. No one delivered lines like the golden girls.

You should also watch clips and things of The Facts of Life which is kind of a younger version of this in that it is about four teenage girls who are forced to room together at their boarding school. The show tackles many serious issues (suicide, teenage drinking, stealing, sexual assault, drugs, etc ), but do so in a comedic way. It could be fun.

I did subscribe! You must go episode to episode. Warning, while there are many perfectly funny scenes in the first season, personally, i think their peak was seasons 2-5, maybe including half of 6. They got new writers at about the middle lf fhe 5th season or just slightly thereafter, and so some of the jokes kinda fall and some of the laughter sounds canned. However the entire serious is great. It would be great to see your reactions as you make your way through the seasons!

That "dog years," one is a failure of a diss. Dirk is supposed to be decades younger than Blanche. Well if he were 5 dog years younger, that'd be less than 1 human year since 1 human year is said to be about 7 dog years. That "University of Jupiter," one was a fail, too. If Blanche were 98 lbs on Jupiter, Dorothy would be implying that she probably weighed 39 lbs in college because you weight more on bigger planets. 🙄Dorothy's getting all these disses backwards.

You’re right on the Jupiter one. That has always bugged me. But you’re only technically correct on the dog years. If Blanche were a dog, five human years would be 35 dog years, so the intent of the joke is clear. If Dorothy said, “In what Blanche, human years,” that would not make sense. If she said, “So, what are you Blanche, a dog experiencing human years,” that would take the zing out of the joke. So I think that joke should stand as written.
