I believe Marc is the voice behind Freddies voice in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie.

@@Revan638 Actually Rami never sang. During filming he sang into a dead mic, confirmed by his movement coach , so that the throat and facial movement looked authentic. The only vocalist employed was Marc Martel , and vocal stems from old master recordings of Freddie Mercury.

Marc did the vocals for the BoRap movie - was asked back around 2012 by Queen. He was also chosen as lead singer for Queen Extravaganza by Roger Taylor from a KZbin/studio audition. His audition went viral. He sounds like Freddie all the time, but can pump up the Freddie-isms when he is singing Queen music for their fans. He also does covers of other artists and his own original music. My favourite is his home studio version of I Will Always Love You. He left QE around 2017 and formed his own tribute band which now tours the world. He has lots of songs - Queen and others - on his youtube channel.

Marc fronted his own multiple award winning Christian band (called "downhere") for over 10 years. Then he auditioned for Roger Taylor and won the lead with "Queen Extravaganza," Queen's "official" tribute band, in late 2011. He sang with them until the end of 2016. When they were not going to tour in 2017, he started his own cover band, "Ultimate Queen Celebration." He's performed with them since, along with "Black Jacket Symphony" (they do EXACT recreations of famous albums, in live concerts), "Symphonic Queen" (in Mexico, with a full symphony orchestra), and as part of "One Vision Of Queen" (a re-named UQC). He frequently tours central and eastern Europe, either with his band or with local musicians recruited for the tour. He's done concerts around the world, appearing multiple years in such far-flung locations such as Israel and Australia. Marc also did vocals for the "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie. The 30+ year old analog magnetic tape master recordings would not have been up to modern "Dolby Atmos" digital quality standards, so they used a technique called "vocal layering," where they blended Marc's voice with Freddie's. If they didn't have a good copy of Freddie singing something they wanted in the movie, it was purely Marc singing it. for some reason, they gave Marc almost ZERO credit in the movie and after. But, if it wasn't for Marc, that movie could never have been made. You can see the tracks in this photo from the Live Aid scene mixing board, where Freddie's track is "LV-STEM LVAID DRY FREDDIE_01" and Marc's track is "LV-STEM LVAID_01," directly beneath it. i.imgur.com/Oqxw81z.jpg Marc has several albums of his own music out as well. In December 2019, Marc was the special guest star for the Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant Christmas tour. He brought the house down every night. The three of them released their cover of "Silver Bells" which went to number one on the Christian Music chart. For Christmas 2020, Marc teamed with Amy Grant to release their cover of "The Christmas Waltz," a Frank Sinatra song. Marc has also released albums of his own music, traditional Christmas music, and other covers. Sweet reaction! Love Marc! I'm a huge fan of his originals, and they're extremely underrated, imo, as his Queen covers get all the glory. Unfortunate, but quite special at the same time, as Queen fans are extremely critical when it comes to anyone covering Queen! He tours year-round with a Queen tribute - around the world. He played in 15 different countries in 2023! I have a special place in my heart for his Christmas music also. He's recorded around 50 classic Christmas songs, and he's got his own as well, with his band Downhere, called How Many Kings. It's becoming somewhat of a modern-day classic. Freddie Mercury of Queen wrote Bohemian Rhapsody, and he never divulged the meaning of it, instead leaving us to interpret it for ourselves.

I saw Marc live in Birmingham with a local group called The Black Jacket Symphony(They try to accurately recreate classic albums live....good stuff). THey did Night at the Opera and he was incredible. I have also seen them do Dark Side of the Moon, Rubber Soul/Revolver, Rumors, Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust.....my wife is off to see them do Purple Rain Saturday night. They travel so if you have a chance totally worth it. And see Marc if you get the chance.

His at home cover of Under Pressure is my personal favorite. He does it with the rest of his band during quarantine. All of his Queen covers are impressive, though. You might also like his covers of Unchained Melody and I Will Always Love You. Good showcasing of vocals in those. Been a fan of Marc's since around 2006. He was lead guitarist and shared lead vocals with his Downhere band member Jason Germain.

As far as recommendations go his Queen covers are the most popular..."Who wants to live forever" , "love of my life" and "We are the champions" but if you love the intimacy of his music being like he's singing to you check out "everybody hurts", "I will always love you" or "Hallelujah".

I feel Marc's cover version of "Who Wants to Live Forever" shows Marc's musical talent & voice at it's best. The intimacy of Marc & a piano alone in the room & the raw deep down intensive feeling in his voice & playing on that song was a little overwhelming to me when I heard it. Just saying... +Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friends+ 🤘😜🤘

I believe that the meaning behind this song is that this is his coming out song. In the beginning he is doubting if life is real or a dream, the man he killed is Farouk Bulsara to become Freddie Mercury. He felt he threw his life away coming out, and made his mom cry. He is then put on trial for being gay in the operatic section. If you follow this through, the whole song makes sense

@IYP….Ladies, You should check out a KZbin clip of early Marc Martel singing Somebody to Love, Surprising Celine Dion on her live show from Montreal, Canada…Celine was a friend of Freddy Mercury and a huge Queen fan, she literally fan- girls out over the performance…She was completely shocked as she didn’t know Marc or how much he sounds like FM….Well worth a look see. Good Luck Jjh

She knew Marc and his music (they are both from Quebec) and gave the producers of that show a list of performers she'd like, including his name. She didn't know who they'd be able to get and was pleased he was there. She was crying from a previous performance on the show.

Marc is a fabulous musician! I agree, when Marc plays piano and sings, it’s a different quality in the best way. I am also a huge fan of his diction. For something completely different, try his Mercurotti, it’s very clever! Or for sheer fun, his Girl in the World video.
