Thank you for a no-frills explanation of how to properly set up the water wheels. This was exactly what I needed; where to put the blocks and where to put the water. Great job, and still relevant almost four years later.

This is by far the best mod tutorial video out there. Still relevant in 2020 through various versions of IE (1.10.2, 1.12.2, interesting to see if it holds up in 1.16.2). I have you saved in a 'Tutorials' playlist for whenever I need help with my waterwheels.

There is a hidden reference here, the 88 rf/t is in homage to the movie "Back to the Future", where the delorian travels back in time once it hits 88 mph. If you open up the Immersive Engineering manual and read the Power section regarding electricity, it states "88 Flux per hour!" Fitting to have the ultimate max efficiency design of the waterwheel to hit this limit in 88 rf/t.

I've always liked these things because it doubles as both an alright source of free early RF as well as neat decor around bases. Then again, I have a weakness for multiblock structures and moving parts.

Nice Video, not my first time watching, and probably wont be my last time either. Helped me when I didnt have some of my go to early generator mods, or just not much coal. I can run a grinder, furnace, and a few other machines without running out of power. Im so used to generating 10000s of rf/t forgetting that you really only need like 1000 rf/t.

Using this setup on Project Ozone 2: Kappa mode to power my MFR Laser Drill. Well, 240 total water wheels to be exact. However, with three water wheels on one kinetic dynamo, I am getting 266 rf/t. Not sure if the pack creator tweaked the power generation, or if the Immersive Engineering mod author(s) changed it since this video came out, but I just wanted to put that information out there.

Thats a good bit of info to note actually; my video was based when FTB Infinity Skyblock first came out and since then Ive been playing on MC 1.10. Ill have to check out what the output is in 1.10 as well! Good news its creating more power though - you should do a video on it :)

I may do a build showcase for my "power tower" and put it on reddit, but when it comes to making minecraft videos, I will leave it to the professionals ;)

Okay, I'm gonna be real with you guys here, water wheels have a very low power density per block. I replaced 4 maxed out wheels (360 rf/t total) with an automatic tree farm (smelted the wood, make it into steam, pump the steam into dynamos, put augments in the dynamos to increase energy output). I have yet to actuall test it (i will test it today when I record). The tree farm is a forestry farm, so it is easy to get early game (after thermionic fabricator). As far as other power generation before the tree farm, I would recommend vertical wind turbines, thermoelectric generators (gradually replace the lava with pyrotheum and the water with cryotheum to get 30 RF/T per layer that you do this). Power density is much greater this way. The tree farm is gonna be good for like 90% of the duration of the game and is very easy to scale up production. Plus you don't need to do anything to it when it is up and running, It will win through numerous energy battles along the way between solar, wind, nuclear (IC2), and big reactors. You would probably stop using the tree farm when you get into draconic evolution and start using the reactors and energy storage in that mod. You may not need to make draconic evolution reactors, but at that point of the game, tree farms have a low power density per block. For most of the game, it doesnt.

So you can only stack 3 for max output? Lol. I’m new to this and just stacked like 10 right next to each other. I’m guessing my other 7 aren’t doing anything?

In the pack that Im using this (FTB Skyblock), Im running my entire auto-sieving process from a bunch of these. Early game in both that pack and FTB Infinity Evolved the waterwheel is probably going to be both the best choice and the choice most players will make - this is why maxing out its power is so crucial (as I found when I wasn't doing it properly!)
@appman20098 жыл бұрын
+Reliikgaming now I'm running my own mod pack and this is actually quite a good early on power source not so good in late game but I have managed to full up a Radstone energy cell from 4 water wheels 😀

the glass makes it fucking confusing wish someoe would do it with normal blocks
@Reliikgaming17 жыл бұрын
I did it with glass because its easier to see exactly what goes where, some of the internal blocks would have been hidden otherwise.
